  1. I am a Mastercam x2 user. We also have Cimatron at our shop. My question is, is there any way to fully dimension a solid? I am currently using the solid layout feature followed my the window ordinate command. Is there any faster way. I have hundreds and hundreds of these detail prints to do and the Cimatron user in the office next to me can do 3 times as many as I in the same amount of time.
  2. Thanks for all the input. The problem is that our customer is sending multiple files to multiple shops and won't change to suit our needs. I appreciate the offer to convert the file but it happens on a regular basis. The customer has also sent files in iges format, but they are a mess with untrimmed surfaces.
  3. Please post any suggestions on how to get Catia v5 file into Mcam 9.1 sp2. We already have a Catia translator but it does not contvert Catia V5 files in (only V4 or older). Owner doesnt want to purchase another Catia translator.
  4. I used to cut with negative stock all the time. Now I offset the surfaces and always cut my stock to zero. But anyway, generate your stl model from surfaces that you have already offset (and saved as a different file name) whatever the amount of negative stock you wish to cut. And use your STL compare to compare your cutterpath with your offset STL model.
  5. Thanks for all your input. We do have the catia translator and it does work great. We don't work in solids so I am not sure if .sat file will work for us but I will give it a try. We cut surfaced models. I will discuss the cost of the update with the owners. I just want to make sure I understand correctly. The Catia V5 translator is included with the V9.1 Sp2? Thanks again
  6. I have a catia translator that I purchased about 2 years ago. I am running mill V9.0 SP1. I am not sure if I can convert files from Catia V5 or not. I don't have a files to test yet but I know that a customer will send one sooner or later. Can someone please give me some guidance on which way to go? Can I download/purchase some king of Catia translator upgrade or will it work now? Thanks
  7. I am a V9.0 sp1 user. I am referring to mastercam mill. Instead of defining multiple boundrys and multiple start heights for my projects, I was hoping there was a way to define a rough stock model (stl file) and selecting the surfaces and wham. Mastercam processes where to go. I notice alot of air time. I cut dies so there are multiple sections at mutiple heights. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance
