  1. I have been offered another job and have been training my replacement. He is doing simple parts well on the mill, but no one here will be able to program the lathe. Is there anyone in the San Antonio area that could do some part time programming for the occasional lathe part for my (former) company? I have things set up well for our current production parts, but new parts will be an issue for these guys. We have level 1, Solid Works, a Haas SL20 and VF2. Our primary concern is lathe stuff. Please email me at [email protected] if you can help. Thanks, ty
  2. You could try watching the Haas website in the pre-owned section. We bought our mill and lathe used, they were demo machines. We paid $30k for our VF2. ty
  3. Well, the pressure switch went south so i guess I'll resume my efforts Monday...
  4. Thanks all. I will look into all of this and post the results. I really appreciate the time you have spent so far helping me out. I've sent emails to the distributer that wrote our posts, just waiting for a reply... ty
  5. Phil, I had you up to "be aware". I haven't ever turned on the Mi2, mostly because I never heard of it. ignorant, but very willing to learn.
  6. Millman crazy, I think MORE code is required because the movement has to be interpolated as the tool is on the centerline axis of the part.....
  7. Thanks Phil. Enjoy the time off. Stupid question (see first post refering to me as an idiot), but does Mastercam handle that for you or is this a manual thing? I am under the impression that our post should bust out everthing needed for this operation. ty
  8. Hi All, I've been a lurker here for quite some time and have learned a lot, and been in awe of the knowledge seen on this board. Thank you for all I have learned so far. We (ICE Prototyping) are a small rapid prototyping company in San Antonio, TX. We have a Haas SL 20 lathe and a VF2 mill. I am the machinist due to the needs of the company, NOT by trade! I am learning as I go, and the help of this board and a friendly machinist in Victoria has made most of my ventures a (slow) success. I am doing a simple live tooling operation to put two flats on a .328 round part. The flats are for a 1/4" wrench. The part comes out with a "hump" in the middle of what is supposed to be flat. It seems to me that I may have a resolution issue, but I know VERY little about these things. Below you will find the guts of the code. I find it interesting that only four X moves are required to interpolate the flat as the part rotates, but I'm just a recovering idiot in the world of CNC. Thank you in advance for any help that I may gain here. ps, Mastercam rocks! ty N110 G0 T0303 ( 1/4 FLAT ENDMILL ) N112 M154 N114 M133 P777 N116 M8 N118 G0 X.6238 Z.1 C126.723 N120 G1 Z-.35 F22. 9. Hey guys (and girl), A new guy here posting for the first time. I spent most of last week reading posts and have learned an awful lot, thanks! I need to make a part from a horrible drawing for our primary customer. It calls for a "9 Pin MDM Male Connector Cut Out", but gives no specs for the geometry. Could someone lead me to the book or website that would have this information? I'm sure it is common knowledge for some, but I'm having issues with it. I don't want to ask the client because he had the drawings made up and wouldn't know the specs either. Thank you in advance. Obviously ignorant and definitely inexperienced, Ty.
