simon, thank you very much for all your help. Do you know of any way to keep the depth of the pocket the same? If you look at the file you did, the pocket is deeper on one side than the other.

Thanks simon, but what I'm trying to do is project the "B" onto the curved solid and then extrude(cut) the "B" into the solid making a pocket that follows the surface of the guitar. I've projected the "B" onto the guitar surface but I can't extrude(cut) the "B" into the surface without getting an error.

Stephen, Thank you for the quick reply. I was able to project the "B" onto the selected surface but the problem that I'm having is trying to extrude the "B" into the solid. I'm trying to extrude the "B" so that its depth stays equal to the surface of the solid. When I do this I get a "planer chain set" error.

I'm trying to project geometry (the onto a solid surface which is curved and I'm getting a planer chain set error. I'm a student and new to mastercam and would like some help trying to figure this out. The file was uploaded to the ftp site, is located in the solids folder and is named bbakguitar.mc9 Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. It is part of a Senior Project Graduation Requirement for my school.
