  1. Never mind, I figured out how to fix it. Thermwood uses G11 as the MIRROR AXIS ON command. This allows the machine to do the opposite of the code. In my case, it will make the machine use the same coordinate axis as my MC7. thanks anyway.
  2. Hi guys, I 'm back. I have been playing around with my Thermwood 5 axis I realized that the z and y axises are flipped. That is to say that the model I create in solidworks and the code I write in Mastercam won't work on the machine because up is down and forward is back. I can compensate for then y axis by mirroring the model so that the machine will actually cut the right shape but then I still have to deal with the z axis problem. Any suggestions? Like how to change coordinate axis configuration in either MC or on the machine? I would really appreciate the help.
  3. We are probably going to get mastercam 9 to replace our version 7 and I wanted to quote a price to my boss. with X coming out it should be cheap right?
  4. There must be something else wrong with the machine becuase the Plant manager and I spent an hour using every suggestion each of you have given me, thank you by the way. Nothing worked. We both agreed that rather me losing my hair over this we will just advise our boss to allow a service technician to come and fix the whole thing. What do you guys think?
  5. I can't move the ball screw by hand and I don't see any sort of mechanical stop. For some reason now it won't even work when I hold the NC Reset button. It goes into E-stop after I attempt to move in any axis. I am back to square one with this machine. I have checked all the limit switches ( the initial problem I had) and looked over the entire computer and wiring setups. I have no idea what is wrong now!!! I'll see you guys from the unemployment line, haha.
  6. Jeff- I don't think there is an overtravel release on this machine, unless I am so blind haha. I have held the nc reset button while powering up and it didn't work. I called Thermwood and did what he said and it didn't work: hold nc reset, push the e-stop button, release nc reset and then reboot. Ron- so basically I have to manual move it out of over travel? I am able to move it as if it was working, but as soon as I release the nc reset it goes back into e-stop. It shouldn't be in overtravel position anymore.
  7. We have a 20 year old machine at work I am having problems with it. I wrote a code that sent the machine over its z axis limit. I expected it to to just give me an error saying something like "can't go that far" or something more techincal than that. Now the machine is stuck in e-stop, I can manipulate the heads by holding the NC Reset button but this is not a proper solution. I have already tried to move it away from home position so I can't think of anything else. I need help.
  8. At my old job we just did everything in MC, but my new job uses solidworks to model and then MC to generate NC code. I was wondering what is the more popular method.
  9. I hear what you are saying, I'm using a chainsaw to cut butter. I will be cutting tooling for a vacuum former so I don't know if 5 axis is the right machine but that is what this new company I work for has and so I have to deal with it. But thanks for the info anyway
  10. My company may be getting a new computer and I need to know what is the minimum memory, vid card, etc. that I need to program for a 5 axis machine.
  11. I am relatively new to MC and I have only ever programmed a 3 axis machine, so I was wondering if I can just get by by using my knowledge of 3 axis tooling. Let me know if this sounds like a dumb question.
