I created a 30degree chamfer tool in Novo, which is software used by Kennemetal. Once I "built" the tool in Novo, I imported it into Mastercam. and now I can't get it to work. It's telling me that only chamfer tools are supported in model chamfer...but it is a chamfer tool. Any ideas?
The tool is following the boundaries set by the geometry. It just goes around, with no stepovers. And yes, I'm using the multiple passes option within the toolpath. I know these machines are capable of doing what I want, I'm just not sure how to get it to do it. lol
Howdy, Lazarusman here again. I'm trying to program a 2D chamfer that makes multiple stepover passes, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. Every time I run it in simulation, it doesn't stepover. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lazarusman
Forgive me if this topic has already been discussed, but I couldn't find specifically what I wanted. So I'm trying to figure out how to number more than just tool change lines....maybe just some lines, maybe all lines, I don't know. I googled it first, and came up empty. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running a 7 or 8 year old Akira-Seki vertical mill, with taps made by Kennametal... 1/4-20, 3/8-16. Broke them both right off. I ran them at 196rpm, with 14. threads per inch. My machine uses an E value for TPI...which is new to me. I'd love to find some resource material for spindle speed, and TPI, to cross reference my programs. The speeds and feeds that MasterCAM is putting out, for the taps at least, seem quite high.
Thanks again for y'all's imput.
I don't know if this topic has already been covered. I did a search, and didn't find anything. What I'm looking for is some information on spindle speed, and threads per inch for rigid tapping. My mastercam software keeps putting in insanely high spindle speeds. and aggressive threads per inch values in my programs, and I keep breaking taps. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Because I'm actually making parts. My company wanted a demo version of MasterCAM to see if they wanted to use it. They wouldn't just take my word for it lol. Problem is, MasterCAM is outputting code that isn't actually working with my machine. I can't tap at all, and my speeds and feeds on everything else is not quite right. It makes it harder to make the claim that this software is far superior to what they have, currently. FeatureCAM...and it sucks.
MasterCAM sets my speeds and feeds, but due to having only a demo version, my speeds and feeds aren't quite right. Is there a way to adjust them in the software, manually?
