  1. You cannot hide......... I know who you are!
  2. Good Morning: Yes sir, that is what I need. As the geometry for these parts comes in at various angles and distances from the origin, I have been transforming them to Mastercam's origin, creating a WCS at the center of the shaft, and then creating the the cylindrical bounding box. This seems to work well. I believe this is what JMahon is doing. Hockey Guy™, what was the method you used? Thank you both for your help. Ken
  3. WIll do. Mods, could you please move this as suggested by Hockey Guy? Cheers
  4. Good Evening: I am trying to generate a cylidrical bounding box around a lathe part with a centerline that is not on center with the cylinder that is created. Imagine an old-fashioned toy or clock windup key with one of the ears broken off. Bounding box "best fits" to the smallest possible size along the z axis; I need to be on center with what would be the key shaft. I do not want to cut eccentric chuck jaws for these parts, even though they would allow use of a smaller stock diameter. I have tried both Turn Profile and Silhouette Boundary to ascertain the stock size with mixed results. We are transitioning from X6 to X7 at work and I have found these two tools differ between versions. There are many variations of the parts in a "family", and after orienting the parts to an identical WCS layout, these tools yield good results only some of the time. I am trying to help out our lathe department, and my background (going waaaaay back) is in CNC milling, not turning. In other words, I am possibly doing a number of things wrong. In addition, my programming days ended with V9. Thanks in advance to the patient souls who might respond.
