Thanks for ALL your help mrk1500. My boss called a machine seller and he said to clean the contacts on the BMDC board. It now works and hopefully we can figure the rest out.
Again, many thanks,

Well maybe that is where the problem is. It never comes to a screen that says it is not in the home position. We can't get the cross slide or apron to move even manually?
Our software says 1993. When I reboot, 3 is the first key I hit. When the POWER/ON MANUAL
screen comes up, there is a "MOV ABS" key which is also key 3. If I hit 3 again a little screen comes up in the upper right corner that says:
RAPID
ESC=CANCEL
DIA.ABS 0.0000
Z ABS 0.0000
What to do from here?
After reboot, I hit 3 and the message says:
POWER/ON MANUAL
>>SELECT FUNCTION<<
It shows X and z coord. and other selections.
If I hit the Green key + it goes to:
POWER/ON BLOCK
>>SELECT FUNCTION<<
Should I make some other selection before hitting the green key?
These messages I mention are in the upper right corner of the screen.

Thanks mrk1500,
We did that and it does run the diagonistics, but after the diagonistics run the main screen comes up and beside the word EZ-PATH it says,
>>status: NO BMDC,DESKTOP' HIT ENTER'.
Is this some sort of error message?

Sorry for not getting back Nathan, I left at 3:00pm yesterday. I really don't know as there are no manuals. My guess is that it is conversational. We found a disk that has EZ-PATH version B25/5.13 update. We can get the computer to come up and show menu choices, but I heard the fist thing you have to do is get it to the home position. We don't know what menu choice to use to accomplish that.
Ruger2
Thanks rob I'll wait for your reply. We understand you have to get it to home position
before you can do anything. We can't get it to do anything.

Forgive me for asking this question here, but if there is anyone who knows anything about EZ Path
Bridgeport CNC/manual lathes could you please email me. We inherited one and don't have a clue as to how and start it. I just figured with all of the expertise here someone knows something
about this lathe.
Thanks

I don't know. This is one of many programs written by someone in our sister company. Unfortunatly, their equipment was absorbed by us,
but their plant was closed and they all lost their jobs. Management decision.
We,(I) learned on solids and models to generate tool paths, but they never got to that point and
stayed with creating toolpaths with geometry.

I am trying to import an MC7 file that was written in wireframe into our Mastercam 9.1
files. I can bring the file in, but it loses
toolpath geometry such as revolved surfaces.
Am I doing something wrong, is it just a fact of life?
Thanks

I don't know if this is the right place, but I am sure it is the right time to thank all of you guys for your help. Especially, for your time that you take to solve what seems to me as moving mountains with Mastercam sometimes. For those of you that helped me yesterday, Brian, Steve, Matt and others, "Thanks".
Ruger2
As always my hat is off to you guys. You don't know how much I appreciate your taking time to help me out. It is just amazing how I can struggle for hours on something it only takes minutes for you guys to fix. Thanks for being there.
Ruger2
Good morning guys,
I spent a good part of last afternoon and part of this morning trying to figure this out, but I am just spinning my wheels. Where and how do I post the MC9 file for someone to possibly take a look at. I am trying to blend the red surface into the gold.
Thanks

Hi Guys, I am attempting to use a thread mill for the first time 0n Ver 9.1. The mill itself is a TINC carbide mill with a .495 dia. and 18 serations. I will be cutting a 7/8-14 straight thread on free flowing brass. Would you please check to see if I have made the right selections?
# of teeth: 18
clearance plane: 0.25
feed plane: 0.25
thread depth: -0.75
incremental is selected
thread pitch: 0.07143
compensation type: computer
anything not mentioned above is set at "0"
both helix entry/exit are selected. (top/bottom)
OD thread selected
minor diameter: 0.6635
right hand thread selected
bottom to top selected for milling direction.
Since 9.1 doesn't have a thread mill to select in the tool library I selected a 1/2 flat endmill and gave it the .495 diameter (that is actually the diameter of the thread mill). What should I select as Feed, Plunge and Retract rates, and what
speed should I use?
Thanks for the help,
Ruger2
Thanks Storkman, but I mean I really don't have the first clue on how to thread mill. I know where to go, (circ tlpths) then Thread mill, but am lost after that ?!?
ruger2
Good morning,
I posted yesterday about thread milling and having never done it before. I can see in Mastercam 9.1 where to go to accomplish it, but I am not sure exactly what to do to cut a thread with a 14 pitch. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Ruger 2
Hey guys,
Is there an easy way or somewhere I could read about threadmilling? I have never done it and don't have the first clue on how to start.
Thanks,
Ruger2
I have a part that I can't trim a surface to again that is similiar to the one you did for me a few days back. I printed your email and tried step by step, but I am doing something wrong. Can you help me again?
