  1. Steve you were on the right track. the batteries were going in my wireless mouse. replaced and problem gone. Thanks Kirk
  2. I installed MC on another computer and the bump nesting is working so it is something to to with my computer setup....
  3. Thanks Steve, I tried slowing down the double click speed. I tried click and drag. Neither worked If I click the part and don't move my mouse the display will patiently wait with no change. It is only when I move the mouse 1 pixel that it returns to the nesting results dialog. I can delete parts by clicking the delete button and lock parts in the customization dialog. Its just copying or moving. I've re-booted my PC in case MC is wigging out but it is the same.
  4. Hi, Im trying to use bump nesting in X4-MU3 From the nesting results dialog I click on the move button The dialog dissapears and the instruction "Select a point on the part to copy" pops up and the bump nesting ribbon bar is active. I click on the edge of a part then move my mouse and I am taken back to the nesting results dialog box?? If I use the delete part button the part is deleted but the move or copy function take me imediately back to the nesting results dialog. Any help is appreciated Thanks Kirk
  5. I find if I decrease the final depth of the routing - in this case from 6.35mm to 1mm - then it calculates a more detailed path around the letters. This suggests it uses the diameter of the tapered tool at the final depth as its reference diameter. This diameter will fit into all of the detail that is can as a normal contour cut. The calculations for climbing up the part is where the limits of the routine take place. There doesnt seem to be any parameters to control this part. I tried to do two passes. The first shallow to get the detail I wanted and a second to get the depth but this didn't work. The second deeper pass approximates the path and gouges out some details. I will keep trying....
  6. Hi, Im an MC user for a few years now. Im using X2 MR2 SP1. Im engraving text. It is a fairly complex font called Stampa. I thinned the data to lines and arcs only. The full data set is about 30000 entities. When I run the engraving toolpath some of the nested chains are ignored in the calculated toolpath also some of the detail in the corners of other chains is ingnored. If I select less data the output picks up more detail. when I reduce the data to a few letters.( less than 300 entities ) then it produces an accurate path. I can't select the data in chunks because all of the letters are close together so at the boudaries of different selections the path will gouge its neighbor. QUESTION: Are there any parameters to affect the accuracy or depth of the calculation? Any ideas what is going on with the calculated toolpath. Thanks for any input. 7. quote: This is a problem that was corrected in one of the maintenance releases. I think it was MR0904. Thanks for the info Gcode. We are still on the fence with justifying the maintenance cost. Do you know if the Sept 2003 SP2 is the last update available for non-maintenance customers? Kirk
  8. quote: Can't you pick a color (when the file opens) and then delete that color? That is what I have been doing. Ive been doing that up to this point but my file size causes a major slow down in file load time. Im working with many thousands of entites. Also my saved file size is in the hundred meg range!!It causes no real problem when its a few dozen or so. Thanks kirk
  9. quote: I have noticed that when opening a pre sp2 dwg in sp2 or later. I just click cancel when it pops up. Thanks for chiming in Jimmy. Thats been working for me so far but the over hundred meg file size is hard to deal with. I created the same problem in a new drawing in SP2 as well. I can recreate it with a single line assigned to a curve 5 axis path with the tool axis assigned to plane. I have just tried it with all of the options in the tool axis box and it produces the error on all but the surface option. Kirk
  10. Hi new member here. Im running MC 9.1 router pro service pack 2 solids engraving My PC is 3Ghz P4 2Gigs ram XP service pack 2 Im having trouble with my 5axis curve command when I use 'plane' as the tool axis control. With any type of entity selected as my curve if I select plane as tool axis control when I regen the toolpath MC will gererate a hidden entity in the background screen color that is a copy of the selected entity except that the new entity is always a parametric spline (even if the selected entity is a line). This in itself does not cause a problem. The problem occurs when I load the file in again. I get the message (X entities in the background screen color) then the choice to ignore which keeps them in the database or to make them a visible color which overlays them on my existing entities. All of this is not typically too much of a problem either. I can run ram-saver to clean out the background entities or I can bring in the new entities as a novel color and then delete that color. These techniques have been breaking down for me recently though because I have been doing some jobs with a few thousand curves to me machined. Every time I hit the regen button it creates another hidden entity for each curve!! My database size has bloomed to a couple hundred megs sometimes. Running Ram saver takes 5 to 10 minutes!!! This error does not happen under MC service pack 1. I would consider migrating back to service pack 1 but my engraving option does not wrap surfaces properly under that service pack. any help is appreciated Thanks Kirk Pacific Woodworking
