  1. Ok ,I am relieved .

    You got me with alt.machines.cnc mentioning .

    I hate that place and you know why ,I suppose .

    I also programmed from machine zero once ,and I can do it once more if I`ll need and there wouldn`t be other way ,but I `d never like it .

    I am for better,safer,simpler ways as much as possible .

    Close to this were some of my really dirty ways of 4 axes work I did once on Okuma with bare hands (pencilCam) ,writing programs by hand while programmer with Cimatron was not able and had no wish to make normal program .

    In most of cases this style is indication of not healthy and not normal situation ,that`s just my humble opinion .

  2. Easy ,guys ,easy ....

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Some in this forum are starting to sound like they came from alt.machines.cnc
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Yes ,many of us run away from it LOL !

    I was there for a long time . What`s wrong ?

    It seems the dialog can turn to a flame war .

    To start a new flame out of nothing ?

    Everyone can say what he likes !

    Programming from Machine 0 has got to be THE most retarded thing I've ever heard of in a machine shop next to Endmills that cut square inside corners. The biggest problem with this is that if you don't have the same machine they do you're hosed. Even if it is the same, you're still hosed because every machine is different. It may only be .001 or .002 different but diferent is different.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This is a personal opinion in very strong words ,but it is not intended to offend noone .
    I would say it different - I would stay away from it as far as it possible ,but still this is only my personal opinion .
  3. If you do not have solids you can use Volume.dll c-hook
    FYI:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    C-Hook Name: Volume.dll/txt

    Date: July 8, 1997

    Programmer: CNC Software

    Usage: Calculates VOLUME from .nci, while simultaneously

    creating a .vol in default nci directory for later recall.

    Volume in cubic inches and gallons supported.

    Price: No Charge

    Notes: Create surface or surfaces with highest point beginning at Z0.

    Create a multisurface nci file with OneWay cutterpath and 0 degree

    angle. Rapid height should be set above surface (Ex: 1.0).

    Run the volume C-Hook (calculates volume in cubic inches and gallons).

    Temporary geometry written to and deleted from level 255.

    Examples:

    VOLUMEC.MC7 / VOLUMEC.NCI (CUBE)

    VOLUMES.MC7 / VOLUMES.NCI (SPHERE)

    VOLUMEB.MC7 / VOLUMEB.NCI (BARREL)

    VOLUMEE.MC7 / VOLUMEE.NCI (ELLIPSOID)

    VOLUMECY.MC7 / VOLUMECY.NCI (CYLINDER)

    Distributor: CNC Software

    344 Merrow Road

    Tolland, CT 06084-9970

    Contact: CNC Software

    Phone: (860) 875-5006

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    tips to use it
    This old C-hook works nicely in ver9 too.
    You mill your model from the inside with tool ball mill 0.01 mm dia toolpath parallel
    model phisically upper height z0
    in posting stage save nci file
    use it for volume c-hook
    Example of report file Volume.dll report
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    *****************************

    Total volume = 652.426016 cubic mm ( 0.000652 liters )

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This is a report from Solid area/volume calculation
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Current Mastercam File (MC9) Name = C:CNCTRYVOL.MC9

    Thu Oct 28 12:40:15 2004

    Volume = 654.498469

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You see ,rather accurate calculation
  4. erowa_03.jpg
    This is erowa holders ,my holders are more enchanced and universal .
    As you see ,masters (setting tools) and gripping devices from steel ,holders from bronze .
    I think it is tin bronze .
    My universal holder (custom design) :
    I can grip any round or square part without premilling up to 25 mm ,or any part with 10*10square bar profile length 50 mm min in the bottom or any plate style electrode up to 150*150 .]
    I made holders for bigger electrodes too
    I made custom holders (kneeLtype ) ,center-finders,angle splitters and so on all from bronze and alluminium .
    The bronze milling and drilling /threading is supereasy and fast ,uncompareble to any steel !
    I run set-up for 50-100 electrodes from time to time ,milled electrode has no need for set-up in edm ,we keep them gripped in holder till there is no need for changes or repair and use them next time .
    Bronze have no chance to get corrozion on edm or wireedm ,strong enough for heavy milling of electrodes on mill cnc ,easy and fast in milling ,
    and not so pricey as it looks
  5. ~~~~~~~~~~~
    p.s. what's JMHO?? and +1000??
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    +1 means me too

    +1000 means I agree with you ,you are absolutly right !

    JMHO just my humble opinion

    HTH hope that helps

    HYLI hope you like it

  6. use this

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Skip lines starting with
    Defines that the lines starting with a particular string and/or characters should be omitted. Multiple strings can be specified using a ',' as separator. If you wish to omit lines beginning with ',', specify with ',,'.
    ~~~~~~~~~~

  7. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Methinks you can download the latest version somewhere

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    +1000
    Anyway , if you do not want to do it (no reason not to do it ,JMHO ),I have a solution for you ,
    but I do not like to go into details ,I think do what Chris sais ,much better !
  8. I want ot know more spec .
    What routering ,firewall,proxy ,web browser .
    Can you ftp ,what your internet security settings and so on
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    They tried a registry cleaner on one of them, a spyware program thinking that could be the problem, and it didn't help.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
    You must disable PChealth settings before cleaning in XP
    Best regards
  9. Bruce !
    not db.obf but db.ovf
    In screen->configure ->files->data pathes ->temporary files specify the right path to your temporary folder
    by default commontemp
    Take note :for multyusers and multysessions the best thing to specify to every user his own temporary folder
    HTH
