  1. Why is it a select few try and find loopholes for the mistakes CNC has made and the completely unintuitive way they have designed X and released a buggy product. I know after years of using 8 and 9 that X is not just new, it is a complete departure from everything that we have learned. Idiotic is what I would call it. As for comapring it to microsft or adobe, who are you kidding? These compies do nothing but survey their users. In fact I would bet they spend more on gathering feedback from their users than CNC spends on development. In today's corporate world, smart and saavy compaies pay attention to their core users needs before they change a single thing. X is gathering dust on more shelves than anyone here can imagine. Look at the who is using X and there are what 40 or so replies. That's becuase like us, people think it is a waste of time. Take off the rose colored glasses and look again, those using X are the minority, if they were an animial they'd be endangered. Stop glossing over the problems and help us wake these guys up.
  2. I dunno if I agree with you on this, rather than only surveying users after the release they should have asked us what we wanted before hand too. I know a lot of work has gone into X, and I won't argue that, but this GUI makes us jump all over the place cross eyed and wondering why this why that. As for the fixes, its not like they were being generous, management knew that if they didn't fix the bugs they would have had a riot on their hands and far greater disaster than what it is now. My opinion of course, but from the postings here, we're not the only ones that see it as a struggle to understand the logic behind these new methods. 9 was dated but I think x's interface and new methods are tough for us longterm users and since we're the bulk of their business and revenue since maintenance, shouldn't we have been asked what was important to us? 1 question would have saved them the verbal beatings they have been getting. Something as simple as: What's more important? Ease of migration? or Time wasting click - click - click - click - enter...????? Son of ------!!!! I know their asking us now, and I appreaciate it, but its a little late. So I use 9 when I need to get it done and X when time doesn't matter..which is rarely. Have a great Christmas everyone...I'm going back to work...
  3. It seems as if no one from CNC even asked US what we wanted. Instead they completely had their own ideas on what's best for us. I think that says a lot, and sucks.
  4. The fact they are not Microsoft makes sense in terms of upgrades, but bug fixes should be free. I didn't see bugs listed as part of the brochure or hear them as part of the sales pitch, did anyone else? The opinion here is that they should fix the problems that exist and make them available at no cost and charge for the upgrades or add ons we need or want. After the other postings I'm starting to listen to my coworkers as they express their opinion that increased competiton affected their new sales dramatically, along with no real product improvements to sell as upgrades in a while is what caused the change to maintenance. By locking us in with $$$ they believe users like us won't switch as we have made even more of an investment in their product and will be patient for X. That's great for them, sucks for guys like me that were the ones that pushed for the purchase based on promises.
  5. Glad to see I'm not the only one in this situation. But I think I'm going to lose the battle as their arguments to the boss are making more and more sense to him. He just looks at me blankly when they discuss it with him on the floor, (as I act like I dropped something). BUT, I'm still at it, plugging away at programming, spitting 'em out like 18 year old trailer park trash. Personally I think the systems great, but for the money and what they perceive as broken promises I'm catching flak. And if I hear one more DOS joke I'm gonna shove an end mill up one guys @$$, pull it out, then shove it down the throat of the other! But the discussion of switching is becoming serious and will be down right guaranteed if X isn't released soon, is full of bugs or isn't what it was promised to be. That's a promise my boss will keep, I guarantee it.. part timer
  6. Help, I'm getting flak, and lots of it. I'm trying to get my coworkers off my back on the subject of maintenance and no version X. The absence of any real benefit (to us) for the maintenance we pay is getting to be a pain in my @$$. I was part of the decision process and I'm starting to look like an idiot. Two years and $3000 for nothing (in their eyes) is asking alot from this shop and their letting me know it on a weekly basis. Any ideas on how to shut them up? "When the going gets tough, the tough start drinking"
  7. And now for the secret handshake: Alt+C goosestep.dll
  8. I thought the cult statement Dave R made was funny at first, but I'm beginning to believe he may be on to something. That someone must carefully choose their words when complaining about a commerical product they purchased or face a verbal onslaught is just too damn weird. If I'm not mistaken I thought this was software, you know the stuff that comes on a CD, runs on a computer, makes our jobs easier...Not some thing that's to be worshipped, like some seem to. The pic of the hot girl thrown in to lighten the topic barely distracted the "brownshirts" from their duties. I can just hear their private conversations..."We will teach them a lesson for defiling ze CAD/CAM..." "He said it was crap!...let's kick his xxxx.." If some of these people weren't serious the exchanges would be funny, instead they're pathetic examples of ignorance
  9. From what I can see there are a handful of people on this forum that think, for whatever reason, it's their right, no their duty, to insult, offend and degrade someone that THEY feel is coming across in a manner that is unacceptable. And this is not the first thread where that has occurred, but it seems to always be the same individuals walking around with their dick in their hands. MC has problems, every software system has problems, its a part of the deal. Expecting it to not be that way is naive, but to single someone out on a personal level because of their comments, or how they comment, on these problems is juvenile. What the hell is wrong with you people?
  10. Wow I've spent time viewing this forum but have never felt a need to post, mostly I found my answers but also didn't want to sound as unfamiliar for fear of getting flamed for asking the wrong question the wrong way. This is the Mastercam forum right? Not some alley in the back of a bar???? I believe that an individual should be able to voice his opinions about a PRODUCT without fear of a personal attack just because his opion differs from yours or because he is dissastisfied. I know when we coughed up the money it was tough, expectations were high, as was the price compared to what we were using, and when a mistake was made that verify didn't catch, everyone started pointing fingers. Was it operator error? More than likely yes. Do I feel the software should have caught them? Bet your xxxx. Isn't that what its for? So I can see where many are coming from. And for those that think they have somehow won an argument with personal insults, you should rethink your logic, you may very well be costing CNC the business they fought hard for. You may not care, but its not your money is it? The more I read this the more I start to think that CNC isn't the only software on the market, we get approached weekly, some systems are more costly, others damn near cheap in comparison, but the difference between the abilities in systems is narrowing, competitions getting tough, and I tell you what it was the promise of good customer service, in all repsects, that sold us. This is not good customer service, its *ulls&^%t, and it IS a company sponsored site because the link is on the site. It's the software people are bitching about not your mother, wife or sister. Relax, step out of the alley and stop pissing on the guy next to you.
