  1. Eric, there's a socket you can buy that fits the two flat knob. Works killer! cheers.gif

Haas is Haas, It's a good little machine. The only gripe I have is the coolant tank and flow design sucks. Other than that, Its great to setup an run.

I cut about 1/4 the run time from production jobs I used to run on the Verts.

  2. Thanks Quickmike, I have some solid holders with broken carbide EMs stuck in them. I can't get the knobs off. I'll torch one and see if I can break it loose. cheers.gif

Nick, What are you loading on the pallet? Chick 1550's are working great for production work. Have fun!... biggrin.gif

  3. Don't stress Mick, If this guy was a good programmer he wouldn't be selling tools. Besides, I doubt very many shop owners would trust programs from a sales rep. There are a lot of variables that go in to making parts. Maybe a simple block with a hole in it program. What's going to happen when one of his programs crash a machine tool?

  4. We always figure in the cost of a coolant change and clean up of the machine when we bid G-10 jobs. I push the feed as much as I can to prolong tool life. I find that light finishing cuts can wear a carbide tool down fast. JMO.

  5. As for pay, it varies in different areas. Learning all you can about machining processes will be a great help to your future engineering career. I have some engineers that want pockets machined on a VMC with square inside corners. They $hit when I give them the EDM bid. You can tell which one have machining knowledge and those guys are great to work with.

    Good luck! cheers.gif
