  1. Conventional cut it. Use the smallest diameter saw that will clear the arbor. Hang the arbor with minimal clearance and indicate it in.
  2. Welcome Robert! I think most of the good Mastercam Programmers stay employed in this area. Pay range is between $20.00 to $35.00 an hour. Based on experience.
  3. Well hell, MC doesn't work with Haas either. I keep breaking tools too! Kickbacks?
  4. Eric, there's a socket you can buy that fits the two flat knob. Works killer! Haas is Haas, It's a good little machine. The only gripe I have is the coolant tank and flow design sucks. Other than that, Its great to setup an run. I cut about 1/4 the run time from production jobs I used to run on the Verts.
  5. Thanks Quickmike, I have some solid holders with broken carbide EMs stuck in them. I can't get the knobs off. I'll torch one and see if I can break it loose. Nick, What are you loading on the pallet? Chick 1550's are working great for production work. Have fun!...
  6. They did Loc-tite the BT-35 taper holders for our old Mori's before I started working here. We still can't bust them loose and that was 15 years ago! I never do it. What horizontal did you get? We got a Haas EC-400 a year ago.
  7. Someone told me 85 ft/lbs a while back. I just tighten the $hit out of them.
  8. Don't stress Mick, If this guy was a good programmer he wouldn't be selling tools. Besides, I doubt very many shop owners would trust programs from a sales rep. There are a lot of variables that go in to making parts. Maybe a simple block with a hole in it program. What's going to happen when one of his programs crash a machine tool?
  9. Been playing with X for three days. Are the post processors more simplified with these new machine and control definitions?
  10. 2 Mori Seiki MV-35's 2 Haas VF-3's 1 Haas VF-2 1 Haas VF-0 1 Haas EC-400 I have to keep ahead of all of them as i'm the only programer.
  11. Word up? welcome to the forum,
  12. We always figure in the cost of a coolant change and clean up of the machine when we bid G-10 jobs. I push the feed as much as I can to prolong tool life. I find that light finishing cuts can wear a carbide tool down fast. JMO.
  13. You just might be expecting to much from a Haas. When I was experimenting with it, I though the machine was going to vibrate out the bay doors.
  14. Use G187 with E#, E= the accuracy you desire. #= .025-.0001, Use a larger # for roughing and a smaller # for finishing. G187 with no E# will revert back to setting 85 value. You will need to experiment to get what you need.
  15. Producing perfect geometry is the most important thing to teach. When in doubt, the ESC key is your friend.
  16. Damn! I was goin' to pick #1!
  17. As for pay, it varies in different areas. Learning all you can about machining processes will be a great help to your future engineering career. I have some engineers that want pockets machined on a VMC with square inside corners. They $hit when I give them the EDM bid. You can tell which one have machining knowledge and those guys are great to work with. Good luck!
  18. I haven't yet, So my code looks like crap. Makes good parts though.
  19. Happy Anniversary Forum! I'll drink an extra beer in your honor tonight.
