  1. I want to drill a custom midplate and would like a dxf or mc9 file if anyone has one tried the search with no results thanks Guys . Dave.
  2. I downloaded the pic but not sure how to convert it to a file i could use maybe you could help me thanks.
  3. Is there away you can put it somewhere or modify to the size I need so i could use that . You have been very helpful thanks very much .
  4. sure that is great I need it to fit 3.75" wide to the outside of the oval . did you make that or find that somewhere ? thanks very much.
  5. Thanks not quite what im seeking Im only seeking the ford letters by themselves in a font form .
  6. Is there anyplace I could download a version of this font the oval I can do but in the Ford name its kinda of in writing as im sure you know any help with a place to find fonts would be appreciated thanks .Mill 9 .I would just run a contour tool path with no cutter offset . Ive tried searching the forums before posting but cant find much info on where I can fonts .
  7. mill man could you please elaborate a little more on what you did to define the tool and how you obtained the 60 deg angle for the cutter etc.. i can run in backplot but will not run in verify or if you could post a simple file in ftp it would be very much apprectiated with the steps you did etc... thanks very much .
  8. I have never done this before so green at this. if i have a inside threading tool from my lathe lets say its .75" and i measure to the tip so it makes it lets say .9" for sake of discussion. what tool do i choose from list first of alltools. do i select a boring tool? what do i put in for degree angle etc.. or am i going about this all wrong? lets say i want to put a 3/4x16 thread on a solid bar and it will be an outside thread any hints would be very much appreciated thanks.lets say x and y are at centre and how do i get it to verify ?
  9. thanks guys I did know about what you were saying so in essence without adding and extra tool path the feed cannont be changed on the final path . what i was trying to do was to see if feed on the same tool could be changed for finish pass lets say its eg tool #3 without adding a secondary finish pass i guess its not possible to change feed rate. I was wondering if there was somewhere in mcam to do this guess not thanks for your help guys.
  10. I have found the problem i was having getting my tolerances closer to the finished size. I asked this question a cpl weeks ago and someone suggested slowing down feed on finish passes. Well i tried it and well its alot closer now when milling out a circle within a thou to thou and half im Happy with that tolerance. now my question is what is easiest way to make finish pass go slower without manually adjusting at the machine? lets say for example im milling a 2" circle in .5" aluminum. Im using a 3/8 endmill i do a few passes plunging down on subsequent passes leaving lets say around .06" for final finish pass at full depth keeping tool down. is there a way to change feed rate from lets say 25ipm to lets say 5ipm for final finish pass ? Thanks guys.
  11. I will try cutting some circles this weekend and see if the slower feed rate helps. Im also gonna have a look at the jibs to see if a small adjustment would help. I know my machine is nothing like the machines most of you use but for the little stuff i do its ok but a little more accuracy would be nice.
  12. This is a good post as i have a small 3 axis knee mill anilam and i notice when doing inside and outside circles they are usually off .005" to .010 with the outsides being closer to tolerance than the insides I use cutter comp computer . im not sure why my inside circles are slight off more than my outside circles though?Ps im new to this so bear with my ignorance pls i have tried new endmills and have had same problem and i know work is held steady i wonder if possibly the gibs may need adjusting though machine is in good shape but ive never adjusted the gibs . so if i use wear when programming my tool offsets do i put in a value for the X as opposed to the way my control works i just touch tool to top of part and enter z and x display position? in the past i have just changed values in xy stock to leave in mcam the alleviate this problem but that isnt teaching me anything. thanks guys.
  13. IM not sure i understand what you mean by this sorry by clearing are you meaning clear colors can you pls explain thanks.
  14. Ps when you do squash geometry how do u get it to unsquash?
  15. i guess i will try it so what you are saying is if you draw something at wrong z level then by squashing it will move it?My other question is when using solids to draw i guess you cant add any geometry to the solid lines only the oringinal line drawing before clicking over to solids am i mistaken in this or am i missing something I havent used solids much so still learning on this i sorta have the basics . I guess when you extrude a lets say a 2"x2" square and you have your zero in upper left hand corner and your in a front view lets say cplane front and you extrude the block 2" you cannot create geometry on back side of part without using front side as lines to click on? Like I say im new to this so forgive my ignorance . thanks for the help guys.
  16. Hi how does this function work and what are its uses etc.. have never used this function before thanks ?Also is there a way to do a pocket tool path lets say i want to put a 1" wide groove in a 2" block with a half inch endmill with haveing the endmill go off the ends of block ? ive tried all the functions in this and i know in my books i had to draw lines outside of the geomtry to get it to work but is there another way without having to draw in the extra lines?I dont want to do the contour tool path as that just goes down the geometry .
  17. Hi im trying to do some practice on mastercam i would like to do a simple part so i can learn how to use different work offsets . Lets say i have a rectangular block 4" on x 3" on y and 2" on z and im putting it in a kurt vise lets call the top side one etc.. and the other sides just like what is listed in mastercam.what im trying to accomplish is drill a simple hole in side one lets say .5" in from x0 and y0 assuming xand yo are in upper left hand corner of part . now i want to rotate part in vise about the x axis 90deg towards me and drill another hole same as first from the x0and y0 . ok my questions are when you rotate the part obviously your going to have a differnt z depth part will be taller by 1" and the x0and y0 will be in a differnt area than when the original top view. basically what i need to know from you guys remember im new but if im told once i remember how to do this i dont use a rotary table . and is picking the upper left corner for x0y0 the best place to start? Your infinite wisdom to this very simple question would be much appreciated.
  18. ok i guess the post processor im using when I click on the tool paths says doesnt support this post processor like an error message im just trying to learn maybe i can use a different setting or something i sorta get it now but think maybe i can pick some generic post processor or something so i can practice this.maybe the CD will help I just enjoy playing with mastercam and learning this stuff .
  19. ok how do i get mastercam to use a 4th axis tool path lets say a simple cube block and lets say i letter it with a #1 on the top and a #2 on the side i created new tool origins for each perhaps im doing something wrong . Im just trying to figure out a simple way so lets say a cube block with engraving the numbers on each side.I only have a 3 axis machine but will be using a rotary table with a add on cnc controller that is progrmamed seperately. would the cd that mike mattera has on the 4th axis help me on this?
  20. Hi guys . Im still somewhat new to mastercam and was wondering if in backplot how to show rotation or does mastercam do this everytime i backplot its shows a tool path from the top then one from the side or bottom etc... i have put in new tool origins but i havent created new views not sure if im supposed to ? Thanks guys .
  21. oh sorry camando i think you just posted exactly what i had said in my second post. i misread first line of your post mill to .100 deep the contours . ok that requires alot of tool changes same way i thought of doing it is there a chamfer mill that i can rough contour with as that would save one step as my machine requires manual tool changes. thanks Dave
  22. camando that sounds good is there a chamfer mill i can use that will do this profile without milling with endmill first so lets say i go with my chamfer mill about .110" deep if this can be done not sure there is a 45deg chamfer mill you can use for roughing if there is that may solve alot of the problem im haveing then go in after with an endmill and cut remaining of the part out.the chamfer mill i have is half inch at top and .250" at bottom let me know maybe there is different tool i can use .
