  1. Have you tried moving the helix point. I usually create a point, then grab that point along with my chain and click "center on entry"
  2. still cant get on the the ftp site, error occurs that says taht i dont have permission to access the files on the server. Tried turing down internet security settings and turned firewall off, but still no luck. any suggestions??? Thanks Trev
  3. is the FTP website down? Ping me and let me know guys, trying to get some more practice in Trev
  4. Thanks you all for the input. I appreciate all the feedback i have recieved from everyone. This has given me alot to think about when I go back to work next week. Thanks again Trevor
  5. toolman, I want to make something clear... I never said that I entered this industry for the money or that money was all i cared about. I love to program, and i think of running the machine like playing with a toy. I really like doing this kind of work. The best thing about being a machinist/programmer is making things and seeing them made from blueprint to actual part. I only make $.25 above min. wage. I was thinking about asking for a raise and i just wanted to see what others with more experience thought. Thank you all for you input, i can always accept rough but true answers. But again I never mentioned anything about not being paid enough or not being appreicated, just wanted some simple feedback and info before i talk to my boss about a raise. Trev
  6. Hi everyone, I have been programming in mastercam for about a year. I can make simple and complex 2D parts and can program some simple surfaces. Recently i have taught myself how to do tooling and setups on our mazak fjv-35/60. I have also learned how to upload my programs set the machine up and make good parts consistantly. I was courious with what skills i have learned over the past year how much should i be making for an hourly wage? Thanks Trevor
  7. Great suggestions everyone. I tried to create a sweep surface over the pocket. It wouked well and blended into the curved surface. When i re-selected the newly created surface for my drive surface the flowline op created an error. Not quite sure why it did this. Anyways changing the gap settings seemed to work fine, i would rather try to create a surface over the pocket, but oh well. Thanks again guys
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions, i'll have engouh to keep me busy with this operation for a while. I have played around with creating surfaces over the pockets but had no luck. i will try untrimming the surfaces and see if i can get some where
  9. Hi everyone, I have a problem with a surface that i am trying to machine. The part is basically a rectangle with a slight curve on the top surface. There are two 2d pockets on the left and right side of the part. I have chosen surface rough flowline to rough the surface. The operation seems to work just fine, the trouble im having is that the tool retracts over both of the 2d pockets. Is there any way to get the cutter to follow the curved surface over the 2d pocket? I would greatly appreicate any help if anyone has some ideas. BTW I am fairly green when it comes to machining surfaces. Thanks Trev
  10. I figured out how to creat the round stock for verification purposes. I want to create a bounding box around my part, but instead of a square/rectangle, i want it to be round. Thanks for the input
  11. Hi everyone, I was wondering if there is a way you can create a round bounding stock. I have a big ring that i need to machined and i want to be able to define the round stock. Any suggestions? I am going to try drawing a round piece of stock in solidworks, then try to import that onto the same screen that my part is on. Thanks Trev
  12. program was done with gibbs cam. So im not sure which comp it is in. Should be G41 comp left for thye part we are machining
  13. Hi everyone, We are having a problem with a job we are running. Tool will go into cutter comp while cutter the profile of our part. When the cutter is done with the profile it comes in to the inside to rough out a contour on the inside of the part. Tool goes into cutter comp again but half way through the cut it goes out of cutter comp and runs into the part. Any suggestions or has any one ran into this error before. Alarm is 'tool offset interference' Running a Mazak pc-fusion controller on a FJ/v series. The part is in the shape of a arc material is 2.5 inches wide arc radius is 37.000 Thanks for any help
  14. Another thing tht does not make sense to me is why my pocketing and and contouring functions run correct on the same T/C plane and my drill function, but the errors occur with the drill function.
  15. hey thanks for the help guys I created a view in the WCS. All of my operations are one one view, the top of the part. Im just doing simple 2d pocketing and contouring. I narrowed the mistake down to my drilling functions. I also found this problem in some of my other programs that involve drilling. One thing im not to sure about is how to create T-Planes with out rotating the part in the WCS. In previous jobs i would import the the file into MC and then rotate it using the wcs. Not sure if this is the right way to start a program, but i am still very new to MC. Thanks again
