ThanX. He'll be happy when I give him the answer in the AM. I'll give you guys a little credit too!

I think that the way he'll have to go. To force a toolchange with evey operation. Thanks Murlin.

Ignore last post. How do I insert M01, optional stop after every operation for SAME tool, without keying it into the code?
-
Sorry, I meant M01, optional stop

Hi'ya everyone, It's been a long time!
A buddy of mine asked me a question I coulnt answer (which is par). How do you insert an M02 after every operation, without editing the Gcode. Not only after every tool change, but after every operation of each tool?
He's using V9.0.

Hi gang!
I haven't been on the forum lately and I see a lot of new names! Over the last few months I've been phased out of programming and promoted (perhaps demoted?)to assistant inspector. Ahh, sweet revenge!!!
But I just jumped in to say thanks to folks on the greatest forum on the net. Many a time, over the past year, you've tossed me a life preserver when I was near drowning. We've shared some great laughs, some great political discussions and some friendships around the globe from Canada to India to teh 100 acre Woolery.
To the newbies, from a user of almost all them systems out there, Powermill, Artcam, NC Polaris, Smartcam, Surfcam, Visi-cam, and now using Fabrivision for sheet metal inspection, MC is simply the best CAD/CAM system there is. Period.
To the oldies, isn't X out yet???
But -- as the Governator of the California folks says -- I'll be back!!
Happy New Year and the best to all!!

I too offer my thanks to a great forum for Mastercam help, general machining questions and political discussions and some laughs! Although I unfortunately cannot be a day to day user at this time, I try to come here as often as I can, mainly on weekends.

Many thanks. I'll be in touch.

Lyncad, Is there a converter available for Dyna language into G code - something similar to the Anilam conversational g-code converter? Thanks for your help. I will probably be emailing you shortly as soon as my boss goes ahead with it.

I have never heard of Dyna Mechtronics. Now my boss may be purchasing an old (1990 or earlier, #DM440? with 9 tool-changer) Dyna shop mill or knee mill, as I think its called and I will be programming it. Does anyone out there use a Dyna machine? Any information will be helpful.
Thanks,
Phil

Looks terrific! It seems more like a natural windows interface something like Powermill. Looking forward to it!

Gov't jobs with prints from the 50's with missing dimensions and vellum overlays to scale up!!!

98 VFO & VF1. Monitors good. Ran day and night. In the summer low power from the line caused the monitor to flutter a lot.

Does anyone use Dyna Mechtronics CNC Shop mills? My boss is thinking of buying an old used one. I think the number is DM440 from 1990 or earlier, with a 9 station toolchanger. Any info will be helpful about its productivity, pitfalls, DNC linking etc.

That's a +1/2 Rekd. For positioning accuracy and to avoid position stops in your program you can use G187 on the Haas. But to set the postioning accuracy permanently for all programs, use setting 85. G187 overrides the #85 value. A setting of 0.0 will give you absolutely accurate position but will cause a stop after every move. I set mine to .005 and it flowed nicely thru all points in surface cutting. Try settings of between .005 - .010 and check the accuracy. To change the settings in your program use G187 E.005 and put a G187 at the end of your program to return to setting 85.
Also setting the baud rate higher might also help if your buffer is getting starved for data while reading dense data points. Try 19,200 or 34800 if you can.

I did a sort of make-shift repeatablitiy test on my cinci a while back with an indicator. I set the indicator to zero at a stop and rapided it back and forth to the stop in X and Y. Of course I rapided it to .100 of the stop and wheeled it in the rest of the way. For positioning I tried rehoming the machine and doing the same thing, though I don't know it that's a sure positioning test.

Glad to hear it worked. I had a lot of problems myself with drip feeding the cinci. When the buffer was empty and the last line read was an M30 or M02, the program would stop right there, so I couln't use that code to end the program.
Good Luck, and I'll be happy to help with anything else. Just give me time cause I'm swamped at work.

Farny,
Lucky you, I found my notes. These were my settings in Mastercam communications for sending DNC files:
Format: Ascii
Port: Com1
Baud: 9600
Parity: Even
Data: 7
Stop Bits: 2
Handshaking: Software
EOL Delay: 0.0
check- Echo Terminal Emulation
check- Display to screen
check-Read pst parameters
Acramatic control set-up:
Machine Setup>Dev Para (make sure it reads the following:)
Reader>9600/8/1/even/2/RS358/0/no/no
Punch>9600/8/1/even/1/RS358/120/no/no
Dataline>9600/8/1/none/2/RS358/0/no/no
Printer>9600/8/1/none/1/ASCII/0/no/yes
Proceedure:
In Control:
Prgram Management>Continous Line>Start
Then at PC:
Mastercam Communication settings as above> Send>Select File
Follow the above advice for proper cable config and you should be good to go!

Tried it out today. Seems to be a winner! No more rapid plunges! I gave it a quick test and it seems to be OK but I will give it further trials. Thank you again!

Farny,
I worked on a Sabre 750 with an Acramatic 850 at a past job. We used the DCDNC software to send programs into the controller memory which was limited in size as you must have found out. I used Mastercam communications as you are using to send longer programs by drip feeding the buffer, but there were some minor glitches with this method which can be worked around. I will look around if I still kept a copy on my settings info and I'll let you know. All I remember is the baud setting was 9600, which is pretty good. Hopefully I can find my settings info. I'll also see if I have a spare copy of the manuals laying around. Hope I can be of some help!

Mark,
Thank you! I will take it to work on Monday and try it out and let you know. Actually, I tried Lars debugging advice to pinpoint where the problem was and I found the ptlchg0 line to be the problem, but did not know how to change it. The mpfan.pst is written completely differently for that Z feed move with a plinout which is absent from the BOSS9. Anyway thanks for answering the question I was going to ask tonight!

Didn't have a chance to try it out. Swamped today. I'll let you know as soon as I can get to it. Thanks again.

+1000 thanks Lars! I will try it out tomorrow back at work.

Also to stabalize the solid (if youre done and don't mind eliminating the history tree) you can export it out as a parasolid, and then bring it back in as a dumb clean solid, I believe that was one of Iskanders dirty tricks. It works!

M01 after every Op

Tim - he is moving or rotating the part in a special fixture after every operation with the same tool. This is only becuase they don't have a rotary head. I told them to get themselves one, but no, they have more fun making complex fixtures for a single part!!! But my buddy was happy this morning anyway!
