That would be the best use for the Ipad. Simple set up and double check toolpaths. Not processing toolpaths. It would be a great help in some shops. I would never take my personal Ipad into the shop though, it stays in the office.
-
Like pulling teeth if its not for the machines that run solidworks.
-
Nice to know about that Gcode, but it realy shows the limitations of my computer. I have a nice 20 - 30 second delay after picking the toolpath.
Thanks

I just found this. it seems to work. The results match the minimum pitch diameter in the machinist handbook.
H = Cos(30) x P
H = is height of thread
P = Pitch 2MM
Dp = Dmaj. - 2(3/8)H
Dp = pitch diameter
I would just look in the machinists hand book.
This formula was found on wikipedia.

A quick way would be to turn off the toolpath visability for all then turn on say 10 at a time to narrrow it down, when you see the one you want come on you know your close.

I guse im missing something.
Change color>All surfaces>select Color
vs. C-hook> find Change color.DLL> select color
Seems like the same amount of steps to me.
-
When working with imported surfaces I most always run the C/hook colrsurf.dll which will automatically change all the surfaces to different colors. Works absolutely great to find those small fillets and little patches.
Of course I would also like to be able to change all solid colors to a different color with a easy key stroke and not have to individually select hundreds of solid faces. Is this possible to do?
It depends on what you are trying to do.
Change the whole solid, YES. Change entity color< Solids< select solid.
Certin solid faces, Idon't think so. You will have to select the faces themselfes.

Not a digital.
-
Hardmill I understood what you were implying.
-
PS: you can toolpath solids without the Solids option. You can't edit them in any way. This includes moveing them, im prety sure.
-
Creat surfaces from solid.
Go to creat>Surfaces>From solids
-
If you read the parasolid as a solid it will retain the original colors.
-
Go to solids manager and select the solid and clear colors. After you do this you will be able to change its color.
-
Yes just select all of the solids in the solid manager and clear all.
Select the first solid, hold control, select the last solid.

just looked at there web site, don't they have anything smaller then 1/4"?

I'm not saying its an X5 problem. We have 2 seats hear and it only happens on my computer. But I though it was discussed before, and that someone might have an idea what causes this.
-
I think this topic has been discussed before, but I can't find it. Can someone point me in the right direction?
The problem.
After having Mastercam open for a few hours I get a significant delay (20 to 30 seconds)when I try to open the FILE drop down menu. The only fix is to reboot the computer. Rebooting 3 to 4 times a day gets old real fast. I thought it might have been an X4 problem, but it is still happening in X5.
Any help would be appreciated.

That was not very nice Prosin Molds.

I have just tested the solid color options. I have no problem changing colors either the whole part or selected surfaces. Do you have use group colors turned off in your settings? if not make sure you turn it off.

Im not sure about the color yet, but I think the creat edge curves is off by default in X5. You just have to go to your settings and turn it on.

Trevor
Its not a new problem. I saw this when Covert first got MasterCam (V9, X). I had Fastech hard code the G54 into the posts, so the post dose not get the info from the program or workplane it just always posted G54. Do you have a new post that you got after I left? If not it could have just got changed after running thru the update post 3 times since I left.
