2021 drag function_trim, fillets etc_like divide changed too

Is there any way to turn this function off? I just want to click my entities, not hold the mouse button and drag, if I try to just click, sometimes it works, most times it just keeps saying "select an entity", no matter how many times I select one, when I select the 2nd entity, it acts as if I never selected the first. I hope my description makes some sense.

 

another thing stumping me, when trimming, the last entity selected stays active for the next trim, is there a setting for that I'm missing

 Trim is, in that way, broken....supposed to be fixed in the next patch
