O/T programmable rapid rate

Now that machine tool rapid rates are super high, do any of the machine builders offer programmable rapid overrides?

You can always "G10" the parameter that sets rapid feed rate to go slow when you want and fast when you want.

 

Personally, non-cutting time is wasted time IMHO so the less wasted time the better.

When I have a large mass part, and C axis rapids, it over shoots and returns. Sometimes it goes through several oscillations before C is positioned. X, Y, and Z on the other hand don't know that C is out of place and BOOM

How high is your feed rates? Instead of using a rapid use a high feed rate.

Cheezy routers are the worst offenders. We use a high programmed feedrate instead of a rapid FR.

Yes, for G code programs it looks like the feed rate option will be the best solution.

 

Hmmm... Sounds like a little post mod is needed.
