Haas Lathe - Cross Drill G83/G87 behavior

Hi all

I have a new Haas ST35LY. I posted a cross drill toolpath and received a G87 from the post with cut parameters set to "Drill/Peck - G83/G87"

Executed at the machine with an invalid g code error. I changed the G87 to a G83 and ran the toolpath. The result was a drill feed that was very fast. Instead of 1.6 ipm, it was more like 10+ IPM.

Verified G98. Good.

I stopped the toolpath and eventually posted a long hand program to get the job done.

I dry ran the modified G83 program today and examined it more carefully. The drill moves in the Z axis after reaching hole depth, which is obviously a recipe for a busted drill.

Clearly the post has issues with outputting G87 on a lathe. But I dont know why

1.) The feed is way too fast

2.) The drill is moving in Z after reaching depth.

Perhaps g83 isn't the code to use. Not super experienced with C Axis stuff. Any tips is appreciated to solving this.

For radial drilling Haas has seperate G-Codes

G83 for face drilling

G243 for radial

My post has been set up to respect what is found in the above links.

In-House actually provided the post for our DS-30Y but the above info was provided to them to achieve this.
