O/T - Milling and Turning Tests

There was a recent post on proficiency testing and I Just got the Summer email of OPSTOP.

I heven't even had a chance to go thru them yet.

I actually went through them .

Not bad but very basic .

 

I would also look how guy clamps the part ,holds caliper,uses micrometer and put tools in collets .

I just downloaded these and printed them.

I actually think that if we gave this test,we could find people who kinda had a clue,instead of people who have no clue!

I'm not kidding either....

 

I am going to foward these copy's to H.R. and see if the can use them.

Course then they might be scared that if they give this test,they then would need qualified people..

That's some pretty good stuff Andrew. I looked at the Turning test and saw that its pretty Fanuc-biased but that's not a really big deal. I do have a beef with a couple of their answers though: not every machine needs to be Zero Returned during setup in the era of Absolute Encoders and there are often occurrences in grooving where it is impossible to offset the tool in order to 'always leave excess stock'

 

Just an observation...

 

You're right, Brendan, your knuckleheads would never pass that test
