  1. Sent me the example file in X7 format and I will try to bend it using Map dll I am still with X7 but never mind First time i did it in ver9 If the part is simple it is an easy task If it not so it may take time but still possible I would say. Basically you need to transfer curves from straight surface to the bended one. Map dll transfers curves from one surface to another using u and v curves as pointers for curves transfer You can transfer geometry from cylinder to flatten surface or to sphere or even from sphere to flatten surface even when sphere can not be flatten without distortion. It is worth to try anyway Sorry for being aggressive Best regards
  2. Map dll c-hook does this job I used it lot of times for many parts like in bend unbend situations Instead of pointing on other programs first learn the tools you have in mastercam and in many cases solutions is under your nose BR
  3. Map C-Hook Use this C-Hook to map a surface curve from one surface to another. It creates the new curve by copying the u, v coordinates from the selected surface curve to the new surface curve, and connects it to a new parent surface. You can optionally choose to swap the U and V coordinates. The shape of the new surface curve is a function of the U,V coordinates of the selected surface curve and the shape of the new parent surface. Generally, this results in the surface curve "morphing" from the first surface to the second surface.
  4. You like this one ? Powered By Mastercam X2 Wintopo and Rastertovector c-hook Mastercam art parallel toolpath Ball mill 3 mm
  5. To thread a multi-lead thread on mustercam using regular thread mill run thread cycle multi times every time starting height changes according to distance between leads For two leads to similar jobs only differs with starting height BR
  6. I have run HSm on slow machines . I ended with using such principles Lower RPM ,Slower feed with bigger side -off milling For stainless I used to go up to 1/3 of diameter and slower feeds I even used High speed mills with hsm toolpathes More aggressive filtering you can filter up to 0.1-0.2 mm and even more if you have enough material for finish BR
  7. Creating single lines of geo at all depths, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ramp is the best but you can make three lines contour horiz line depth in and revers horiz Now chain 3 d contour select appropriate 3d chain mode depths and all and on the depth page select Keep tool down HTH
  8. This is most simple low cost mechanical presetter https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/56451172 And you even don't need this . You can preset using Johnson block or with block of steel Fast and easy . HTH
  9. Try to avoid entering inner corners without radius movement For such big tools as 5 '' adding 3 mm inner radius is good enough to lower spindle load at corners for 50 percent
  10. Long time ago we used to extend end mill 3 mm and glued it with the lock tight superglue It worked good For heavier duty tools we used silver soldering Once I used rough ball mill HSS 25 mm dia extended to the lenght of 350 mm ! I used to mill some tricky parts for planes and it worked. Very strong connection. HTH
  11. I got it to work better by using the top surface as drive, instead of check. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I make undercut milling on the daily basis. Never use check only drive surfaces. Saves me a lot of pain HTH
  12. Gcode , good old days! Yeah! No drill cycles too ! And the machine was nc ,not cnc ! You can over-travel one axis(X for example) get the alarm and axis stop yet second axis (suppose Y) will continue to move Lots of backlash and lots of fun And still we made good parts Machine - builder from city Kabul Once had built an advanced machine - tool . Now controller is wrecked , And the basement is cracked , And the spindle is powered by mule !
  13. and when I say incremental, each and every tool needs to start at part zero and 1 inch above, as the early programmers here did not know that work offsets existed?? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear fellow machinist there were times when that was exactly so . I used to run some very antic machine it had no home and no offsets Naturally it had no toolchange system run powered by apple][ WE USED THE SAME PRINCIPLE LIKE THIS : ProgrAM always incremental first point of program and last one are the same one -program home and z is 25 mm over the part -HA-ha !!! I had some other machine it had offsets but no home . One of the first LX systems HTH
  14. You can blank your level. The surfaces will reappear after regen Other geometry will stay blanked you can unblank it -> select by level I akways blank the geo for solid building Saves me from lot of headache HTH
  15. While the old command line hot key guys hate the new interface, the younger generations are using it... and buying it which can only be good for all Mastercam users. ~~~~~~~~~~~` Gcode Come on . Are you serious Hot keys instead of endless clicking ? I dont hate I use my mc full speed Hot keys ,right click falling custom window instead of endless clickings - call me dinosaur if you like.
  16. Hi folx I am still using X7 . Yes it is true that I was one of the last to move from V9 to the x2 OR x4 ?! Yet it was good decision. I don`t play with MC I use it and to use it I mean I produce code for my machines. Not everyone needs the last version with last features and what exactly I miss now in my specific job conditions ? I checked the new features and I will tell you -none None at all There are lot of programming jobs where 99 percent of jobs are pocket ,contour and drill Surface pocket or surf contour Sometimes HSM or simultaneous 5 axes (2-3 times a year ) And still this job has some challenges and the most important not to make mistakes and program fast. Thats my job now and to answer some guys who say it takes lots of times to move from ver to ver my experience says I`ll manage it in a couple of hours . Thats my humble opinion. That`s how I started to use Mc with ver5.5 Every boss that looks for a programmer that knows specific version a fool at least Most important things are technology knowledge and general understanding of machining and etc I can teach anyone to use MC and that`s not makes him programmer That` s my humble 5 agarot Best regards
  17. I have seen something like this Mostly with surface contour toolpath When tool dia is close to the minimum diameter in contour In other words tool has not much room for movement I ve seen it 20 years ago but sometimes see it even now If it is so I know how to deal with it BR
  18. Well guys that`s the difference between you and me . Doing now very specific work typical and simple from technological and programming point of view I simply see no sense in update Thats my plant I make extrusion dies . Returned to my roots First I made dies for allumium and bronze ,after that plastic molds ,now extrusion of alluminum
  19. Use conventional direction of cut and thus the thin wall will be pushed out instead of been pulled under the mill I ve seen it lots of times before and it helps to use conventional BR
  20. Why I have stuck with X7sp2 For many reasons 1 the sort of work I program now does not demands from me new features 2 is stable and for my work free of bugs 3 It is heavily customized optimized specific to my work 4 Why I have to get used to the new interface 5 AND why to pay maintenance So you see folx sometimes it worth to think before rushing to update you system every half a year BR
  21. Hi Gerry Perhaps you pressed end button by accident :headscratch:
  22. I have found it some time ago - if your file with solid crashed and now you can not open it still you have a way to save your work !!!! open new mastercam empty file make file merge with the crashed file and in 90 % of cases it will merge it Now first of all remove solid history and you will be able to save file as a solid body at least Or you can play with your history and find what action exactly crashed your model . Sounds silly but I saved some very time-consuming works using this trick. HTH BR
  23. nasty island that wants to get sucked into the cutter and break it ```````````````````` cHANGE YOUR CUTTING DIRESTION FROM CLIMB TO CONVENTIONAL and the island will be pushed out of the mill (much better scenario) Happened to me lot of times HTH
  24. Hi ,Guys ! I was forced to program using remote access MC X7 sp2 on windows 7 as slave Lenovo inspirion 8 gb Ram Nvidia card running Linux Mint Sara 18 XFCE edition as master Using teamviewer on both ends worked great without any issues. Teamviewer is a hell of a program for remote access HTH
