Hi guy's

I have tryed to search here and around for some more info on the subject Highspeed Machining.

As I understand, the basic idea is using very high SFM but keep Chip Load around the same as for standard machining. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Is there someone here who would be kind enough to share some SFM, I normally are running steel.

A2

S7

D2

420 SS

The machine I am planing on using is a Haas VF3 with a 15.000 rpm spindel, I have highspeed holders from Sandvik and standard micro grain carbide endmills.

Thanks

Lars

i don't use hsm but I did go to a hsm seminar held by delcam they were cutting A2 @ 60 rockwell at 80 ipm 10k rpm with a 3/8 ball and a .25 stepover for constant Z roughing. no coolant and wen they were done they would grab the tool and not get burned it was pretty cool. delcam does offer a free hsm guidlines cd for free. the only differance is mastercams toolpaths are different unless you use the cimco hsm package. hope this helps
