Hey there we just purchased a copy of mastercam for our biesse rover 24 cnc.

Figured i would say Hi to everyone.

If anyone else is using mastercam and a rover 24 cnc I am looking for general advice in all areas

of work.

some of my issues are working with surfaces

about placement of the part in mastercam

i put a part in the lower right corner of the origin and the part is drawn with the base of the part on Z0 everything looks good in verify but when i look at the code it is cutting 2" above the part

i changed the lpz to .001 in gcode file and heights are good but it is plunging really deep and for no known reason that i can see

any info or links to info would be great.

Thanks in advance.

well it is supposed to be cutitng at about -46 in z

it is cutting in the air at about -97 in z

i changed the lpz to .001 to compensate but now it is plunging down to -10 for no known reason i see nothing in the gcode that would cause it either

i was thinking it was something to do with changing the lpz to .001 but still not sure

will be trying it again today but am going to make the part below the z plane in mastercam and see if that helps

how are you generating your geometry and how are you selecting/inputting the depth?

if you draw a standard 2D (at z0) drawing to put toolpaths to it you will have input the depth youself as a negative value.

If you draw it in 3D wireframe and select the depths on the drawing, mastercam will automatically input the depths for you.

Now i can't see what you are doing there, so i want to make sure i'm covering the basics (and sometime the obvious or not so obvious)

We have a Biesse Rover router here, but i'm not sure what model, all i know is there is no post available for our router. I'm a machinist, i leave the woodworking to the wood guys.

We have Posts For the XNC and the RT480,- They also support the Gang Tool Changes, ie three tool changes all together if you have multi heads. CapTech also have some good Biesse Posts too. If you send me a sample NC file that your running I can take a quick look to see if there are any glaringly obvious mistakes. Is your codes using incremental for your 3D work?
