Operation Defauls

When you write your toolpath the construction plane is the default setting. If for whatever reason after you "chain a contour" and the parameters page comes up and you realize you needed to cut from Con plane 4, you can change it on that page. But beware the depths will not be correct. i.e. minus z is still a minus z.

It is a good idea though to set your construction plane and tool plane to the desired view before starting the toolpath.

Bill,

I think he means the buttons in the initial operations panel. I agree with Metal Eater, it’s more annoying mouse clicks. My ‘T/C Plane is checked and available, and the ‘Enable Tool Plane Button’ is set to yes in the post file under ‘Numbered questions for Mastercam Mill’. However, even though the rest of the buttons are initialized to ‘yes’, only the ‘T/C Plane’ and ‘Tool Display’ buttons are lit! The others are available; you just have to activate them.

I believe in the transition from 8.0 to 8.1 the ability to set these options in the defaults.df8 file (accessible through, screen - configure - nc setting - op defaults button) were disabled. The only way I found around this is to keep a copy of 8.0 on the system and set my 8.1 defaults with 8.0. Either by copying the file between aps or using 8.0 to access 8.1's defaults. Afterward DON'T look at the df8 file with 8.1 because it'll disable these options again.
