Gauge Tool Lengths for Mazak Variaxis 640

Hi Guys

I am now running into problems with my Z over travel! The solution for me is to put tools in longer holders! My question is can I get my post to output the minimum gauge length of tool holder while also allowing for the overall length of cutting tool needed to machine my component based on this machine so that the operators don't have to come to me every time the machine over travels!!

I would think that you would need a seperate post for this task.

If I remember correctly you need to have a tool length of 180mm to get to the C axis centre of rotation with the trunion A at -90. So essentially what you need is a max depth value for each tool.

Then this value needs to look up the variable for the tool out of holder. (I don't know where to find this one or even if it is output to the post)

Subtracting these values will give you the tool holder length.

Of course This will only work if you program about the centre of rotation of both axis, If some other position is used you will need another post set to those values.
