Diamond coated

Wonder if anyone has expeirence with diamond coated or DLC (diamond like coating) tools. We're using an sp3 Inc. brand DLC 1/32" drill in Macor machineable ceramic, .7" deep. This tool is working OK, just wonder if anyone has good luck with another manufacturer, that I could try and compare to sp3.

We have switched to OSG EXOCARB line. I am very pleased with the quality. They tend to run a cheaper in cost as well. If your really need a serious selection have your local distributor send you the Japanesse catalogue. I can't read anything but the sizes, but man the shear volume and diversity of cutters will maker your head spin.

 

I wonder why they don't offer that selection here in the United States.

Sp3 is a good call as is the Exocarb Diamond lineup from OSG. Been very happy with both.

CVD Diamond Corp. They make some scary small long reach end mills. I got an .046 with 1/2 in. of reach that I've been using for a couple of months now and it's still cutting good. They ain't cheap but they do give you 1/2 off the first on you order. Electrodes Inc. is a distributor for them.
