Tramp Oil Separators

Good mornin',

Most coolants require, ( the newer ones ) to

use de-ionized water. ( which nobody has )

The hard water ( heavy minerals ) is the problem.

Also skimmer wheeles work good...must keep

oil from covering coolant ( Tupperware affect )

Also run coolant every day to airate (add air).

bacteria has an easy time forming when not circulated.

Rob, we have one of their units and it is OK but in my opinion not worth the bif price difference between that thing and belt skimmers. If you are planning on using that for several machines the price balances out since decent belt skimmers are $300+ each but I know if one of my machines went 4 days without skimming you could walk across the coolant. The Keller definitely works and I'm pretty sure they'll let you demo one for a month or so if you give them a deposit of %25 or so beforehand; maybe that would be best to see if you like it

Thanks for all the input guys. Our biggest concern is the smell. We are using Castrol 9930 synthetic coolant with skimmers on all the machines (there is no chance of changing coolant brands). The owner wants to get rid of the "machine shop smell". We pride ourselves on having a very un-machineshop like environment (if that makes any sense). This is one of the cleanest shops I have ever seen (all we're missing is carpeting next to the machines biggrin.gif ) and I want to make sure it stays that way. I am hoping there is a solution with the Keller unit, or any other brand instead of using additional biocide

Good mornin',

We used to use 9930...I hope it has been upgraded

Try Castrol Ausol AU-39, no smell for 3 years

Tramp oil rejection very good, an all purpose fluid.

Do not use biocide, it gets rid of smell for a day

and when it returns, its bad. The best Biocide is

to ad fresh coolant every day. DONT let operator

add only water, and use a refractometer to check

mixture .
