i need help to find down what kind material is it.the name material E4340 STEEL ,Aircraft Quality

per Mil S-5000E condition Annealed.thanks

E4340 rod has high fatigue strength and maintains its hardness and strength qualities even at high temperatures. Excellent for use in highly stressed parts. Meets AMS2032 and is furnished normalized and tempered cold finished.

Not hard but fairly abrasive.

Cutting condition are on the side of 303SS but expect tool life to be a bit shorter than with 303.

Is it going to be heat treated?

note: E4340 steel not the same condition are on the side 303SS.I TRIED USE RPM & FEED on 303.it did not work.thanks

What exactly are you having problems with?

If you can dwell on it in a little more detail we should be able to help you better.

There are so many diff. tools available that certain speeds and feeds will not work uniformly across such a wide spectrum...

Give us a little more detail: tools used, holders, setup...

i use 3/8 end mill carbide ,solid tool holder will run on cnc mill,this operation will mill .5

square by .1 depth , i run about 2000 rpm with F4.

Way too slow for ticn and better coatings.

For heavy profiling try S2000 and F12.0+, for slotting S1850 and F12.0 but no more than half of dia on axial depth.

I like Hanitas Varimill and Niagra Z-carb..(I think). With those you can run faster and slot full dia on axial depth.
