Cut Comp when Surfacing

I don't know if anyone actually does this but I have a user that wants to use cutter comp when using Surface Finish Parallel. Is there a way to turn on Cutter Comp when surfacing?

Sorry there is no way at this time to do this.

It is lot more complex to do cutter comp on a surface, especially when you are usually cutting to the center of the tool.

Can the control do 3 axis cutter comp????

If so, a custom post could be written to do it if the toolpath was a flow 5-ax and programmed to tool center. But that's it. No other toolpaths could give any useable output.

No it can not. Thanks anyways guys. I don't think he should be using Cut Comp when surfacing anyway.

Hi

I had a customer that had his own product

and he needed ccomp on his part.This is what I did for his 3x machine.Fixtured the part on it's side ran the standard surf options to center of the tool.Back plot saving the geo,offset that geo to the radii of original tool ,then make the geometry as simple as possible .last program as 2-d contours with cuter comp.This was in an older v. ,and it was a lot of labor but they still use the program .Today I use the solids for the same custermer with better results, with less work.

I remember the days of Backplotting toolpath. That sure was a pain.
