Trying to make a groove without a notch

i am trying to make a groove with fingers but the tool rolls around corners like this.

Which looks like this:

I tried turning off "Roll cutter around corners" but it did not have an effect.

Do you have any suggestions?

You might need to chain centerline geometry using the Wait option when you chain so that you can backtrack along your chain.

can you cut the long groove first,then come back and cut the short ones?

add a cut to the T- top or add it to the chain.

He's picking the right wall as the contour so it will be like that. If the left wall was included in the chained geometry, then it won't( on a contour cut).

Did you regenerate the toolpath after turning the "Roll around corners" switch to off? I've designed a similar geometry situation here using Mcam V9.1 MR 0105 and have tried many combinations of compensation and direction of cut. Without "Roll corners" on, I generate a straight cut, every time. What version of Mcam are you using? I drew geometry at 0.250" between the walls but had to alter the tool size to something a little less than 0.25" so Mcam would allow the tool to machine the whole contour. Is it one contour or several? Can you upload the file to the FTP site so we can get a better look at all your settings? HTH

I wanted to let you'se know that I found the problem. If you plunge and run, the path is as expected. If you ramp-in, then the path will only roll around corners. Like it or not.

 

The forum is great and has helped me a lot. Thanks for your input.
