Help needed with spliny toolpath

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to get Mastercam to follow the profile of the weld prep on a pipe coupling. My first operation is using a 2" ballnose on a HBM with turntable. The second uses a 6.085" dia. wheel cutter with .5" dia. inserts on a HBM with the coupling clamped to an angle plate.

Both toolpaths will produce the shape but the scallops will be unacceptable. I think the wheel cutter is my prefered method for roughing but I would like to follow that with a finishing cut that will follow the shape better ie: a series of 3D splines instead if cutting at a constant Z value.

The file can be found at:

P.R. Engineering FTP site

Use Internet Explorer (not Mozilla 'cause it won't do FTP very well)

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Randy
