spaceball tips

Just got an 4000flx courtesy of ebay...been messing with it for a bit here. Super super busy though.

 

What are your fellows' hot tips for button setup, sensitivity, etc.? I've got so much work to do, I'd appreciate some advice on getting productive & comfortable with it asap.

ok, I'm getting addicted to this thing.

 

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but there is a newer spaceball driver than the one on the ftp, available at the 3d connection site. I don't have enough experience to compare the old vs. new drivers, but the new one works with solidworks (the older one did'nt work with sw04) and has a different control panel.

I have a spaceball 5000

 

Using driver 3.6.4 works just fine with SW2004 and NX3

 

I tried the new 3Dx software V1-1-0 but did not like it so I went back to the old one.

I'm having trouble programming my buttons. What's the trick?

I assign my desired functions to a key seqence in my config, then create a spaceball macro for that seq. Does'nt seem to stick though. wtf?

I still can't get g-view top programmed into a spaceball button.

I have an 5000-USB, works fine with MC9.

I've tryed to program the buttons, no result, but i have'nt put much time in it.

I hate the mouse click to go back to mastercam.

Waiting for X, then i try it again.

What's frustruating is that I can program some features (fit screen, isometric) but can't program others.

will V10 (sometimes I think its just urban legend) do away with this nonsense?

I assign an unused key to functions you want to use on the Spaceball, then right click in the menu and do the new comand deal, works great. I use it for bounding box, cplanes etc.

BK, that's what I've been trying do. I've found that it works for SOME functions, but not all. I still cant' get gview top assigned to a button, and I've assigned it to about 15 different key stroke sequences, and just about every combination of spaceball buttons. What driver are you running?
