Hi,

Does anyone know if the 840d post supports 5 axis output using vectors to control the tool axis

 

and does mastercam directly support the output of spline data thru nurbs

You mean specifying A3= B3= C3= for the tool vector rather than physical angles? It's easier to do in the`post than physical angles, since Mastercam provides a vector.

 

Mastercam doesn't directly output NURBS. You need to get Metacut Finish. The 840D has all sorts of tolerance mods to take linearized data from CAM systems.

Absolutely, it can be done. This could easily be implemented in our 840D post. We sell our 5-Axis posts through the reseller channel.
