Zero geometry chains and nci size when opening MC9 file

Hello,

 

I had a very strange thing happen to me today. I opened an MC9 file that I was working on about 3-1/2 weeks ago and found that all of the operations had lost the geometry and had 0k for the NCI size. IOW, to get a program again, I will have to re-chain the whole job and regen. I immediatly went and looked at about 2 or 3 other backups that I had and found that they were all the same. I have been using Mastercam for quite some time now and have never seen anything like this. Everything else about the file was fine.

 

Has anyone seen something like this?

The only thing I can think is that the file wasn't saved when you were done working on it.

 

I know it's not much help now, but at least you can sleep thinking you know what the problem is.

How would that delete all of the chain selections on all of the operations?

 

The whole file is still there including all of the operation comments, steps, pecks etc.

I'm stumped on that one, but still think maybe user error.

 

I do not mean to sound offensive, but I have never come across this unless I have deleted associations myself.

 

Sometimes this will happen if you move / trim some lines etc.

I've had instances where I would open a file and see the same thing, but, once you hit regenerate all, all the geometry becomes visible again. It's happened more than a few times over the last couple of years.

 

I don't know why it happens though.

I can not figure out how to delete all of the chains from all of the ops even with user error.

It will not allow a regen because the operations do not contain geometry.

On second thought, I better do some more testing to see what is happening. Evidence does show user error

All,

 

I figured it out. It was my fault!

 

I got side tracked on hotter jobs and just thought that I had all of the ops programmed. What I did was import all of the ops from a very similar part and then stopped and went to another job. This explains why there was not any geometry or nci. Now! can everyone just forget that I did this? ...LOL
