  1. Hi All, Just wondering if this was resolved. I just noticed this same issue happening to me and only on this particular workstation. I'm using X5 and have enabled depths of cut with one finish depth, and one finish pass on the diameter set for the final depth. The total depth of cut is -.500". The depth of cut is set at .100" and a finish depth of .015". The toolpath in both the backplot and the post goes down to the feed plane set at .05" above the final depth (i.e. no depths of cut are posted.) I've tried restarting Mastercam; deleting the operation and creating a new circle entity on a different level and still no depth cuts. Your help is appreciated! Thanks, Norbert
  2. We have been slowly replacing our old XP workstations with newer Windows 7 64-bit (enterprise edition) machines and I have come upon errors that I have not seen before. Has anyone else encountered them or know how to get fix them. The (Mastercam X Editor) message box reads: "Invalid procedure call or argument C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\shared mcamx5\common\editors\Mastercam\Memberlists\entities.mbr" click "OK" and this message follows: "An error has occured in sub OpenFile() The parameter is incorrect. #-2147024809 C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\DOCUMENTS\SHARED MCAMX5\-001.NC Thanks, Norbert
  3. We recently bought a Fortis 400mc rapid prototype machine and I would like to run a hockey (goalie) mask as a sample. If you have one and can share it, please e-mail me ([email protected]). Thanks, Norbert
  4. Jim, Thanks The user tells me he used to be able to do it in V9, but I tried the same thing and he is incorrect. So, Project it is!
  5. Hey folks, Using X4 MU3 to generate a 3-d contour (chained a single, sloping line entity.) During the verification, it appears that the point of tangency does not shift as the part starts up the slope. I tried to attach the file, but received an error, so here are some of the settings: Contour (3D) Cutter Comp (Left); Type (Wear); Tip Comp (Tip) Max depth var. (.0005) Lead in/out: Tangent (50%, 50%, 90deg, .05 Helix ht.) I can e-mail the file if needed. As always, your help is greatly appreciated! -Norbert [email protected]
  6. After installing X4 over X3, I have an issue posting operations and sending them directly to the machine ("Send to machine"). I get the message: "File format not valid." The NC extension is as it was before -- .nc. I can, however, post to the (Mastercam) editor with no problems and then send the file to the controller with no problems. The posted program is good. The controller is a Fanuc 15-M. I have checked all the comm settings and they are the same as the settings in our existing MC9 setup. I retried the Update Folder process and update post c-hook to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks!
  7. Thanks HM...he's trying out your suggestion right now...
  8. A co-worker is working on a part with an island that protrudes from the base at a 6.2 degree tilt (the top of the island is at 6.2 degrees to the base and the walls extend up from the base normal to the top of the island surface.) I placed a copy of that particular part on the FTP site (ftp://www.mastercam-cadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/MC9_files/angle_draft/)-- filename is rough-a.mc9. He has tried several surface finish options to no avail. I suggested we tap the expertise of the forum. We are ordering a .500 lollipop tool for the job. Thanks in advance!
  9. Thanks Jimmy. I deleted the existing geometry for those holes and created new ones...it worked this time, but I still am not sure why the original geometry gave me the error. I compared the properties to other similar holes and they all "looked" the same.
  10. Hi all, I have just started using solids and have run into an error while trying to generate a .2945 DIA x .500 deep hole into an existing solid block. I had no issues with the other parts in the set, but this morning I started getting the following messages: 1. Invalid face created -- My WCS and C-planes are the same; I click on EXTRUDE, select the arc (that is lying on the same plane as the parent solid face); click on CUT BODY; EXTEND BY... .500; Trim to selected face; Reverse directions (because the chain direction points away from the surface); click on OK (green check mark); select the face of the parent solid; click on OK (green circle) and then I get the error message. 2. Parasolid® Kernal Interface Error: PK Error Code: 22 - tag is invalid or dead. -- I got this message when I created a new circle to see if it was just something with the existing geometry. I don't see anything wrong with what I've done, but then that's why I need your help! The file is posted on Cadcam's FTP site in the Solids folder (norberts-solids-error.mcx). Thanks, Norbert
  11. Thanks John. The files were very clean.
  12. I have an AI file that I am having trouble converting over to a usable DWG or DXF....care to try converting that for me? It's a set of logos for the China Sharks hockey team. E-mail me if you can help ([email protected]) Thanks!
  13. Thanks JM. I couldn't find it anywhere, I just needed confirmation from an expert!
  14. I dug this up after searching for an answer to the question: How or can I change the translate default from "Copy" to "Move"? Can it be done? Thanks, Nt
