PROGRAMMING TOOL LOAD

Is there a way to program a certain tool load range for the machine to either slow down on feed rate or stop completely when tool creates to much load on spindle?Or in this case we are machining quarts.We are not really worried about spindle,but the tool getting dull and breaking or part(quartz)

Have you looked at the high feed button on the operation manager window? It takes into consideration volume being removed.

I bleive he is looking for an active program at the machine that monitors spindle load independent of the cam package. I have seen tool timers that will change a tool after a given increment of time, but I have never seen one that would monitor load and replace the tool after the load increased to a set point.

 

I have been known to stall the spindle and have the machine shutdown from overload with a couple of my face mills, but never on purpose.

Makino has something called "Adaptive feedrate control". They have had it for years. I imagine other builders have it also. I don't know if you can add it to your machine or not.

I'm just going thru some manuals for our new Mori and it seems like it does exactly that.

Haven't played with it yet but looks very handy. It has a teaching mode, you program how much % above normal load you are willing to let it go and so on...

Newer Haas controls do this I don't know if it is an option or standard. You can have the control slow the feed rate at x% or just alarm out at said%
