Spiral Surface Cut?

Is there a way to cut a lofted surface in a spiral configuration? I am finding that if you have a thru pocket in the middle of the surface, that it will jerk the machine around and is not very efficient! I was thinking that a surface spiral would be the most efficient way of attacking this kind of part! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well what comes to mind off my head would be to create a 2D flat boundry above the surface and do a Spiral pocket to one depth.

Then project it on to the surface and you will get what you asked for.

Give this a try.

Anytime I try that, Mastercam goes and bombs out on me... Any other suggestions? Maybe I could e-mail you the file?

I have not see your file, but download the last patch for surf. machining. It's C-hook activated and with the scallop toolpath, it's wonderfull!!!

I have tried the new surfacing c-hook... Havent seen much as far as menu options though. Maybe not until MC v10. I cant wait for the Windows gui!!!

Hi Bhyde,

just so you know i redid the surface.

I compared the two to make sure they were the same.

But the surface is what was giving the trouble sir.

Just thought you might want to know what was i did to make it work.
