STL compare

I am also having a problem creating a STL file for use in verify. When I try converting using a .05 tolerace I get not enough memory. I have 256 meg of ram and my MasterCam allocations are set to use 207 meg. The surface file I'm trying to convert is 952K. I searched and found this thread but I don't see an answer. Thanks.

mmonica,

you are saying when you try to make a STL file that has a large tolerance of .05 with that much ram it wont do it?

Do you still have this file?

If so i would like you to put it on the FTP so i may try it.

then from there i will see if it does or does not work for why for you.

I have never had a problem makeing an STL in the past but lets start with the file and move from there.

thank for your time.

Jay,

I'll post the file. Thanks for your quick response on a Sunday. On a side note, I tried it in ver 7.2b and it created the stl file using a .001 tol, the file still looks corrupt in verify in ver 8 (1.26.2001), this is not a big issue, but I like to verify using the model to make sure I don't hit any interior walls when milling.

Thanks Again

Hi Monica,

I think it's a parasolid file that was converted by MC. I had a problem like that before.

Please check all the surfaces of your model to verify that it was converted correct.

It's a good practice to convert your model from vda to MC. And in my opinion, trimmed srfs are better manipulated in MC.

Jay and Kwolf,

I can create a good stl file in both ProE 2000i and Solid Edge V10. I made a parasolid from Solid Edge and when I try to convert in into MasterCam I get a error in GETMOD:

Parasolid Kernel Interface Error

PK error code: 970-

open/close/read/write error for schema file - check PSLDDATA directory

This is not a big deal, my program is written, but I just got to like the verify feature. I'm just curious as to what I'm doing wrong, or could this be a bug.

Thanks for you help

Mark Monica
