Mastercam X Solids

- I don't quite understand what solids does exactly

Here's an example:

You make a 2" by 4" rectangle. You do a solid extrude by chaining geo and type in the length you want [say 6 inches]in the Solid Extrude dialog box. You now have a 2" by 4" by 6" solid. You can next draw a circle inside the rectangle you made and do a Extrude/Cut Body/ Extend thru all. Now your solid block has a hole thru it. You could do a Solid fillet next and fillet one, two, or perhaps all edges. Now you got a solid block with a hole thru it and smooth filleted edges. Using the Solids Manager you can delete the fillet and regenerate the solid, now the sharp edges are back. Next you decide you want a draft in your block, so you edit your solid and activate the draft angle feature [inward or outward] by say 10 degrees. Red X's show the solid has 'dirty operations', so you regenerate your solid and now it has a draft. Etc, etc, etc.

Solids, unlike surfaces, have a solid history tree. This makes doing modifications to the part fast and effecient. The Solids Manager shows the history tree of the solid models you made.
