Supplier for down-draft cutters ?

Recommended Posts

They are right-hand spiral end mills. The spiral just goes down instead of up.

They're usually used when cutting thin sheet metal that is mostly un-supported except for the table that it lays on. A regular end mill would pull the edge of the sheet up. The down spiral pushes the sheet down onto the table. Works pretty cool. They are a bit funny looking when you're used to 'regular' end mills.

I tryed using downcut mills to cut wood in certain applications. I am very pleased with the results. It makes for nice sharp corners when making custom molding etc. I found them in a catalog put out by Onsrud. They have a website www.onsrude.com Also I would think that you might be able to find them from MSC Industrial supply 1-800-645-7270

Good Luck
