Mastercam And 64 Bit

lynnz,

You were right. I had the V9 to X backwards. You DO NOT lose your programs from V9 when you bring them into X. You lose X programs when you try to save them as V9.

I still hope CNC gets this straightened out very, very, very very, soon. Eventually all computers are going to go the 64bit route.

I have no idea about the V9 failure in x64, but I will be investigating very soon due to the fact that we just ordered new work stations this week.

I e-mailed CNC about this and here is what they said..

quote:

Just like people on the forum have said, some users can get the software

running and others have problems. Version 9 will not run on XP 64.

There are no plans to get it running in the future on that OS. Version

X is being evaluated for supporting XP 64 but at this time it is not

supported on that OS.

The official line is that XP 64 is not a supported operating system for

X. You may get it running but we can't resolve problems you might have.

We would like to hear about them for our development process but they

can't be addressed in the current software. The basic problem is that X

has been in development for 3+ years. XP 64 was not released until just

recently. It was not possible to change the coding of X to have it

support the new OS. Naturally it is being looked at for future

releases. Mastercam will run on dual processor systems but it does not

take advantage of them.

Regards,
