update matrox G400

Since I have not done this before I was wondering how hard it would be to install the updated driver for my Matrox G400 dualhead 32mg, ver.4?

Which OS are you using? You can download the WHWL certified drivers for any OSs from http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/certified/home.cfm . Just pick your OS and download that file. Run the file that you download. It's a self-extracting EXE so make note of where it unzips the files, or chose your own location. Be sure to properly uninstall (that means using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel) the old drivers first. Once you've done that. Run setup.exe found in the directory that the self-extracting EXE that you downloaded extracted the files to. Reboot when it tells you to and ta da...you're done

I am using win98 but there is nothing in the ADD/REMOVE for the matrox driver. So what would be the easiest way to remove the old driver before installing the new one?

If you don't see the Matrox drivers in the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel, then use this tool to uninstall your current Matrox G400 drivers. You would then install the WHQL-Certified drivers for the Matrox G400 (Windows 98) in the manner I described in my previous post. Good luck
