  1. We lost a good friend and colleague last tuesday morning,Reg Hasbach, Kitamura West Coast regional Sales Manager, he had been battling cancer the last few months. Some of you know him from the Hasbach Corp. him and his father had, retrofitting Shizuoka's with bandit conrols in the 70's and early 80's. I worked with him on a daily basis the last 7 years and I will miss him greatly. Rest in peace my friend. Mike Poynter Kitamura Machinery of USA, Inc. West Coast Branch

  3. You should wait for IMTS in Chicago Its alot bigger, plus more days (8 instead of 4). Mike
  4. Trevor, Have you ever played in a fast pitch softball league? I ended my 20 year playing career of both slow and fast pitch softball last april. was playing 2-3 days a week. A buddy wants me to play on Fridays in Huntington beach, I will think about it. started back up in golf though. I miss playing fast pitch more than the slow pitch, it played more like baseball. Mike
  5. Working for a machine tool builder I would tell you that you need to compare apples to apples for your MONEY, what you really need now and in the future, what type of casting are they using, weight, standard features, whats a option, service, box way or linear, ect. Do you really want to have a 0-3 yr throw away machine or a 0-15 yr money making machine. My opinion. Mike
  6. There are a few companies out there that check the harmonics on the cutter in the spindle to check the frequency, they put a sensor on the cutter, the sensor is wired to a computer, then you would tap the cutter and the frequency would be sent back to the computer and genterate a wave that would tell you the optimum range on speeds. this is just the basic format. You would have to contact the company specifically. Mike
  7. Happy Holidays to all, hope that 2003 brings in lots, lots of work for everyone. Mike

Los Angeles If you can make it stop by, I got CCC to get them V9, and to start promoting MC. Also if any one else can make please stop by. We have 5 Machines on their floor to show Mike
  9. I agree with James, Buy another computer for DNC, The money spent on ram upgrade would be close to get a low end PC. This would save the hassles of error. Mike
  10. Since mfg has slowed down, I would like to know the going hourly shop rates in the mfg world for vertical and horizontal mills for the following 2-1/2d 3d 4 axis 5 axis just looking for basic info Thanks Mike
  11. No tool should get stuck in the spindle under normal use. even if the machine and tooling is running under optimal sfm this should not happen, the machine should be looked at by the machine tool builder or a qualified service engineer. just my .002 Mike
  12. FINALLY I was at games 3 and 5 in 1986, I made it to game 1 of the World Series. Great to see the Angels take it over the sour grape Giants. Unbelievable team effort, don't we all wish that in our business. Had to find a way to get in the World Series here, Right in our back yard. Spezio's at bat in game 6 will be talked about for years. Go SO. CAL teams. Mike
  13. There are companies out there that use a sensor on the cutting tool in the spindle, (of course the spindle is not turned on) and then tap it to send signals to the computer, this will tell you the harmonics on the cutter and give you recomended speeds. Mike
  14. Hardinge has agreed to mfg bridgeport mills along with parts at its elmira facility, (From American Machinist) Oh and I got one of the last Z-28's what a BLAST Mike
  15. Mori Seiki has purchased Hitachi Seiki for their R & D and facility. I was told that Mori will build a new facility there. Who is NEXT???? OKUMA Also heard that Hardinge purchase Bridgeport. Mike [ 09-20-2002, 07:08 PM: Message edited by: limitless creativity ]
  16. Overall the attendance was down, this might be make or break for some, we will see. The last day was very slow, we stopped all machines and started tearing down the machines around 2:00pm We were by the bay doors so we would have to be the first ones out. But Fri/ Sat in Chicago all I have to say. Jay What happened? Chris stopped by, and I stopped by the Mastercam booth and saw Tom Shelar and said Hi. Mike
  17. Just got back Fri night. Who made it to the show? Mike
  18. Theepres, I would like to see the Angels get in this year. Hope they do it. I was in the right field bleachers in 86 when Donny moore gave up the HR to Dave Henderson, what a heartbreak, one frickin strike. And I still purchased 30 world Series tickets for three games thinking that they would win one in Boston, Mike
  19. James, I have to disagree with you on a player changing work enviroment for better pay, perks, ect. We have all done this to some degree in our lifetime. And it is hard to comprehend the avg salary is approx 2.5 million. and why would they need to strike. Oh SAY UNION But it is sad that just about the only way you can get premium seats is through corporations nowadays. Glad that they figured it out, now if the Angels do not do the Sept fallout, So. Cal will have fun. Off to IMTS on MONDAY Mike [ 08-30-2002, 11:37 PM: Message edited by: limitless creativity ]
