Ok i need help now.Win XP

Any one running XP with mastercam?

I cant get the software to see the white or USB hasp at all.

Any thouhts folks.

Ok i got it...

When you install it, it does not auto on the printer port for the White Hasp.

Now on to the usb.

Ok now the USB is working all is well.

Hi Jay.

Any other problems with MasterCam 8.1.1 and XP. I'm running 2000 Pro. and want to try XP this week.How is it running V9 beta. Any advantages from 2000 Pro.

have not had enough time with it to let you know.

But i will this week for sure.

I seems to be a little fsater all around.

But need to spend time with mastercam with it.

It boots up fast that for sure.

I have not loaded V9 on it yet.

I tried win.XP last week, it starts quickly,

but it often died when I turned off the windows. It seems that it is not as stable as windows 2000.

Can you give me a little more on this thought?

All so did you do an upgrade or a fresh install?

Was it WinXP Home or Pro OR Corp?

You may need to download updated HASP drivers that are stable with Windows XP. This was the case back with NT 4 SP3 or SP4 I memory serves me.

And lets not forget that there are no longer multiple Windows kernels. Windows XP Home will use the exact same kernel as Windows XP Pro and, to some extent, 64-bit Windows XP.

Thanks dave had all ready gone that path for both keys.

I really cant tell witch one did the trick as i did a few things at once,but that was one of them.

But i did get both keys to work.

Now i just need to play some more see how it works.

You got it, Jay. They're finally ditching that old 9x kernel, which is actually the MS-DOS kernel that has just been patched a zillion times up to Windows ME. So we can all now kiss that crappy 9x kernel goodbye and a famous saying now goes out the window :

The main difference between XP Home and Pro will mostly come down to features. XP Home will include stuff that you'd normally find in a commercial OS like the video editing software they introduced in ME. XP Pro will include features that you'd normally find in a business OS like the file encryption feature introduced in Windows 2000. Nope. I haven't had a chance to get my hands on XP yet. I tend not to install Microsoft operating systems until the first major update or patch is released for it. If I had an extra "non-critical" system, I'd probably install it to test it out, but I don't

I understand that. I am trying it on a hard drive swop on my demo box.

So once i have it all set up i can just move out the drive from the front of the computer.

I take it you don,t have a extra drive laying around.

I have heard from sources that CNC is investigating multiple video/memory/crash issues with XP. I have been told that as of now XP is NOT supported but all attempts will be made to remedy that (although v8.x is no longer in development, so updating to v9 - when it comes out - may be the only option).

So what you're saying is the crashes only occur with v8.x on XP, and not with v9 on XP?

Going back to the start of this thread I had the same Hasp problem under Xp. The latest revision of the driver from ealaddin.com sorted this with a parallel port Hasp.

That is what fixed it for me to.

Updated the the hasp patch from this forum and it works just fine.

Same confirmation here ... customer just installed XP and needed support for the Hasp. Latest drivers are required.
