  1. Finally someone brought this to the attention. I use to visit this forum everyday, sometimes three times a day and now I stop by maybe once a week. This place went from the best forum I new to one of the worst when it comes to new members. It seems every time I stop by top see what's new all I see is older members simply abusing the new guys. How sad.
  2. The new south building was built 6 years ago and it's over twice as big as the old building. They use both of them now for the show.
  3. Ug NX2 for modeling and MC and UG for Cam.
  4. Middletown is 70 miles from Manhattan. It’s a small town with population of 26,000 The median home is around $230,000 and property taxes are around $3500. It’s an hour from the ocean, an hour from Manhattan, an hour from Catskill Mountains, 30 minutes from Jersey City and 15 minutes from Harriman State park with great fishing lakes. We are only 18 miles from Pennsylvania which has cheaper homes and taxes. Brand new house with 2-4 acres of land in PA is around $160,000 with $1500 of property taxes and only 25 minutes from our plant. As some of you know, I moved here two years ago from downtown Chicago where I lived in the high rise on 32 floor. Now I prefer the country living and just bought a fishing boat. We have over 1200 lakes within two hour drive . The second best fishing spot after Quebec Canada. If you enjoy outdoors, this is the place to be. Orange County Choppers is 10 minutes away from us, so if you don’t like the job, you can always get a job building bikes with those three. Unemployment is one of the lowest in US. PS. We’ve got couple of resumes from California and there is no way we can pay you that kind of money in here. The wage is between $55,000 to $70,000 then if the person is good with the job, usually 10% increase will be given after 6 months. After that 3%-5% yearly increase. Keep in mind that this is really good pay for this area. I was making a lot more in Chicago, but worked 70 hours a week, then after 2001 worked only 20-30 hours. In two years in here, I stayed late two times to finish a job. My title is a Tooling Engineer, you will be Manufacturing Engineer and will be working with me on most of the projects. You will work on prototypes and single cavities. I will design production tooling from your prototypes. We both will be supervised by Vice President which is in the office only on Mondays or Fridays. He is the best boss you can ask for. Pops in for few hours, makes a meeting with all engineers and leaves for a week. You are free to do the job any way you like it, as long as it gets done.
  5. Hi guys. Before we go with head hunters I figure I will post here first. We are looking for a programmer that is good with cutting aluminum and plastic molds to join our engineering department. The job involves programming thermoforming molds for food packaging as well as doing light engineering. Example: You would take the product model from our product engineer, make a single cavity from it by splitting the solid block using the product, add mounting holes, inserts, water holes, air holes, generate the toolpath and the tooling list and pass it to the shop. 90% of all machining is done in aluminum on Makino VMC (3 axis) and require 3D high speed machining. Some machines are new and some are older. The sizes of the cavities are generally small 12” x 12” x 4”. Unigraphics is the main software used but we also use Mastercam. You will share an office 20’ x 10’ with another engineer and will be provided brand new top of the line IBM M-Pro workstation with 21” LCD monitor, full seat of Unigraphics NX2 with 24 hours full tech support. You will also be sent for a week to Unigraphics or MasterCam class every year to keep up with new releases. The company offers 100% paid medical with $15 co-pay per doctor visit, dental, life (double of the salary), vision, 401K with $0.75 company matching on a each dollar you put in, nine paid holidays, 1-5 weeks paid vacation, yearly steel toe shoes, shirts, jackets, company paid trips to local attractions (shows, sport events, restaurants). Relocation assistance is available that pays for all moving expenses (packing, trucking), hotels, airfare and car rentals. You will be paid by salary and working 38-42 hours a week. The engineering department is located in Middletown, NY. The company has sixteen manufacturing facilities in North America and has 6.2 billion in sales. Some travel from plant to plant may be required. You will be given yearly review and raise based on your performance. This is one of the fastest growing company with 15-20% growth each year. On the personal note. I worked in five different shops and this is the best place I ever worked for. It’s nothing like mold shops where one day you are busy the other you have nothing to do and you are always on the mercy of other company that may or may not send you work. Here we are making tooling in house for our own company and at best we make 20% of all the tooling where the remaining 80% is sent out. So even if the company would slow down or downsized we would still have plenty of work and just send less outside. In our industry there is no competition from overseas and never will be, not in our times anyways. If you are interested please email me at [email protected]
  6. Looks like we are still # 1 when it comes to seat numbers. 80.000 so far and counting. Here is the link. http://www.tenlinks.com/NEWS/PR/cnc/061504_no1.htm
  7. I just read the article on China that reminded me that China is still our enemy. With all the buisness we send them each year I forgot that they are still consider a threat. For some reason I thought that they changed from our enemy to our friends in the last few years. Guess I was wrong. Seems like they still see as as the biggest enemy even though we support 22% of their economy. Wonder why? Here is an article. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,121337,00.html I think some type of political conflict with them would be the best thing that could happen to US. Political conflict always begins with sanctions. If that doesn't happen, we will be digging our selfs into a bigger hole, where we loose the manufacturing strength and jobs while they are getting stronger and we are more and more depended on them. The Washington does nothing and our trade deficit keeps growing.
  8. It took 9 steps in Unigraphics. 1. Draw base shape 2. Extude 3. 45 deg angle on one side 4. 15 deg angle on other side 5. 3/8 shell 6. 1/8 blends 7. first hole 8. second hole 9. third hole Little over a minute to complete.
  9. Have to dig out some of those American jokes to help my buddy Stan. The other Polak.
  10. I just tried paypal to send the money and the e-mail address you sent me is not registered with Paypal.
  11. I would ask for at least $150,000 plus all the expenses of moving and if it's a contract job for only few months, the hotel would have to be paid for.
  12. I'm positive that the guy is not related to anyone or even know any of the managers. Our company has 28,000 employees. He use to sweep the floors and change coolants some twenty years ago and now is in charge of tooling purchasing. I know that the money is not mine, but it kills me to see so much of it wasted and mine honest quality shops working three days a week and his shops working Sundays.
  13. Please set up Paypal account. I'll gladly send some money.
  14. That is just the thing. One shop that he uses has nice quality and the other one has nothing but problems. The shops that qoute the lower prices are good quality mold shop that were building molds for as for the last 20 years and the molds still running to this day.
  15. I have a question for you wise people. The company I work for buys roughly $8-$10 million worth of tooling (molds and dies) I'm in charge of mold design, approval of tooling and 20% of purchasing. The other person that has been in this company for much longer than me has the remaining 80% of the tooling purchasing. Few months ago I noticed that he buys most of the tooling from only two suppliers and doesn't even want the jobs to be quoted by anybody else. Lately it's getting out of control. The prices are getting higher and both shops are working every Sunday while other shops that we use before are sitting empty and asking for work. One day I plotted extra set of drawings on one of the mold I just design and got the job quoted by other shop. The quote came back 15% ($22,000) cheaper than his shop, but was thrown in the garbage and the guy didn't talk to me for two weeks. This leads me to believe that he takes big kickbacks from the two shops he dumps all the work to. At this point I'm not sure what to do. I'm somewhat new to this purchasing side of the job and maybe this is standard thing when it come to outsorsing. If I let this go on, sooner or later the corporate office will shot down the tooling department due to growing costs and send everything overseas where all the engineering and mold making would take place. I was told by President of the company a year ago to reduce tooling cost by 10% in next three years. Right now I don't have any solid proof of corruption but I know if I talk to the President heads will roll. The men is all about saving money and I got quotes $20,000 to $60,000 lower then the other shops, yet all the work continue to go to overpriced shops. The president has no idea how much a mold should cost. I don't think he even knows how the mold works. This is a large company with billions of $ of sales and no one keeps track of cost per tooling. All the see is the end of the year number. The biggest problem is that I don't know how deep this goes. Who is on the payroll and who isn't. I know that the top management are not on it. They make too much money to risk the job for few thousand dollars of kickbacks. I'm new and most guys in here know each other for 10-20 years so even if they are not involved, they would hate me for exposing their buddy. What would you do?
  16. Did second shift for eight years and now on the days for last three years. I would go back to nights anytime.
  17. Pepsi ONE for me. It doasn't have the after taste like the other diets. And now that they took the Under GOD out of it, I'll be buying even more.
  18. We are looking to add 4th and 5th axis to our Makino v77 and the quote is at around $110,000. Sounds little high to me. What is the price of the cheap 5 axis machine. We would be using it for simple hole drilling and milling small aluminum parts.
  19. How about sending official company letter with business card and company history. That's what I'm doing Monday morning.
  20. James wrote: "Because if there is no God, I can do whatever I want with no regard for the afterlife" Like I said. Back then there was no Police or any other type of law and that is one of the reasons why religion was made up. To help control primitive human race and keep them from killing each other. It was a perfect solution to the biggest problem. Once you get people believe that there is this Mighty God that is watching everything you do and depending on what you do in this life, your next life will be bad or good. Now, police is no longer needed because God sees everything. Kevangel wrote: "Man is so clearly distinct from all other species" How can you even say that. We are so close to Chimpanzees it's scary. Every single organ we have, they have. Yes, they have lots of body hair, the body in shorter and the brain is not as developed as ours, but to say that they are clearly distinct form us is B.S. Even their fingerprints are the same (not identical that is) They have intelligence of 5 year old child, where they can do simple math, puzzles, arranging colors, etc. Now, if you compare a Man to a fish or a hamster, you have a point. We can discus this subject for years and we wont get anywhere. What ever scientists all over the world will discover or proof (probably few millions highly educated individuals with master degrees, DR. degrees working at NASA or many Universities) a redneck from Alabama with 8 grade home education who has worked the same potato field his whole life will say "God made it that way" and most religious people will agree with him and discredit any info from the educated folks. I don't know, but I'll go with the smart guys. If religious people had things the way they wanted, we'll still be in stone age and there would be no Mastercam. This explains why some states ( AL, TX, TN, KT ) are most religious. Weak and uneducated minds are easy to control. Which was the case thousand years ago where all those stories where imbedded in people minds and started this whole thing. Please don't take this personal. We all know that people on this forum are bunch of smart men and women. We have to be in this type of industry and in what we do. There are plenty of highly educated people that live and work in all the States. The four States listed above are the lowest when it comes to education and most religious at the same time in 2001 Census. I don't mean to offend anyone. Back to religion. How do you explain so many different religions. How do you know that yours is the correct (true) one. Most of you in US are some type of Christians simply because we originate from UK and Christianity was their religion. If the Mayflower was from say Iran, most of you would pray to Allah and swear that he is the true God. That's how religion works. In most cases it is passed from your parents or your grandparents and was forced on them at some point. Christianity was forced onto entire Europe by the Christian crusade. If you didn't believe in Christ you were killed. Same applies to other religions. Christianity is the most popular simply because English, French, Spanish nations were explorers and colonize many places on this globe spreading their religion. You will swear that your God is the true God and guy next to you will die to prove to you that his God in the one. This is why I will never join any type of church. There is too much blood on their hands. For thousands of years religious people were killing others to make them believe. Wars where millions were killed were fought because of your God. The bible you read is responsible for more death then any other factor. Most kings and leaders used religion to gain power and used their church to justify their killings and were always forgiven by their God for their sins. In current days, a church is just a big business making tons of money and religion is still used for personal gain and power. We continue to kill our selfs to show that our God is their God. I don't see too many atheists flying 737 into sky scrapers.
  21. It's all about suface finish when it comes to cutting something with high power water flow or slow washing out effect. You should now something about surface finish being in this industry.
  22. So earth is now only 6000 years old. This is getting better and better. Explain Grand Canyon that river eroded in 5 million years. There is no flood that can create something like that. It takes slow current for long long time to wash out solid rock like that. I wont even get into dinosaurs, mountain formation and continent splitting, coral reef, mile deep ice, crystal formation in caves, fossilized ocean life forms in the middle of the continent, etc. etc. In my opinion religion was created to make people feel somewhat good about dying and create same type of law back where there was no Police. " You do something bad, you will go to hell". We don't want to think that when we die we go out like a bulb with no after life. This in the #1 reason why people turn into religions and start to attend church when they get older. Like I said. Religion is disappearing in US and will be limited to somewhere between 5 to 10% by 2050. The amount of atheists more then doubled in last decade. When I was a kid, I remember a church buses driving through neighborhood and luring kids with candy and ice cream for a Sunday school to brain wash their week minds. Didn't work. The new generation is too smart for this. Religion is dropping faster than ever due to the technology and internet. I know that most religions teach alot of good things and values but in most cases it makes people see through a tunnel vision ignoring everything that is not in some book or script. Just look at nations where religion dictates how a person should live. Look at Middle East. Except for Israel, most of them live in a stone age. Here is the link in UsaToday. http://www.usatoday.com/life/2002/2002-03-07-no-religion.htm [ 02-26-2004, 11:08 PM: Message edited by: beav700 ]
  23. We were all monkeys not too long ago. There are hundreds of scientific discoveries and proof out there showing that earth and life on it is millions of years old and then there is one man who saw a speaking burning bush. I'm sorry. I just can't even understand how people can believe in the bible. I'm coming from very religious family ( two uncles are catholic priests , one in Canada and one in Poland ) and was dragged to church every Sunday. Half of my family wont talk to me because I didn't have a church wedding and I'm atheist. I think they are brain washed and blinded by their religion and I wont talk to them neither. Just last weekend, me and my wife went to Howes Caves upstate NY and in that cave alone there was enough proof to discredit any religion out there. The good new is that the new generation is more educated ( educated with correct history ) and religion is disappearing in US. There are 27000 fewer churches now then there ware in 1950 in US alone. Discovery channel has alot to do with that. On that note, I will not see the movie.
