ATI FireGL V3100 driver problems

I am having a problem with my video drivers. It is causing my Mastercam V9.1 to crash. Is there a settings Iam missing. Also the entities are disappearinging when I change views. I know they are still there because it says they are in System/Information. Layers are on nothing is masked or blanked it just doesn;t show up. Thanks in advance for any help

ATI cards are notorius for not working well with Mastercam V9 and earlier. Search this forum for "ATI" and you'll see what I mean. You could try turning down accelleration to begin troubleshooting.

Do a search of the forum for the "ATI".

ATI and V9 do not play well together.

The best solution is to replace it with an NVIDIA

chipset.

Some people are successfully runing V9 on ATI

cards, bu I have no clue how they're doing it.

Do you guys have any suggestions for better video card to use with V( and Mastercam X?

nVIDIA Quadro FX would be my first choice. nVIDIA GeForce (the high-end of the GeForce line... > $100) would be my second.

If you think you may ever run dual flat screens be sure to get a dual DVI card.

If I go with the lower model how much of a difference is there? Are we talking surface intersections may show a gap or is it more extreme say as my backplot may not be as shown?

Quadro FX: greater speed and stability, aimed at the CAD/CAM market

The downside to a lowend card is mostly performance,

You'll get choppy rotation of solid models.

Verify will run slow. On big models it may be

so slow its unusable.

For average work I think the FX500/700 is adequate. If you work large solids or lots of surfaces you should consider the FX1400.
