XP Home is pointless, IMO. Get XP Home only if:

(1) you will never connect to a Windows NT/2000 domain or network

(2) don't plan to use remote desktop

(3) you don't want to enjoy the many features of the NTFS file system

(4) you will never use a multi-CPU system

In short, XP Home is cheaper in price because it's a totally crippled replica of XP Pro. It really is aimed at the average home user that types up the odd letter, checks his e-mail and surfs the web. I don't think XP Home is a good choice for most Mastercam users.
