  1. Files with long filenames do not show properly in Mastercam with this combination: Mastercam style File Get dialog (set using the CNCReg util) *and* "Hide extensions for known files types" enabled in the Windows Explorer Folder Options. Correct this by disabling "Hide extensions for known files types" in the Windows Explorer Folder Options - or using CNCReg to select the Standard style File Get dialog box. Thanks John that is exactly what I needed and it worked great. Noel
  2. The files are stored on our server. Noel
  3. Sorry I forgot to mention that I am running version 8.1.1. The last time we tried XP with version 8 we hade to change something to allow more than 8 characters. It may well have been a windows setting. I do have a call in to support.I wish my 42 year old brain would remember. Thanks Noel
  4. Good day all I recently had to reload mastercam on to a new computer because the old one died. the new computer is running windows XP. I remember having to run a patch that would allow you to use file names longer than 8 characters long when running XP. My problem is that I cant seem to find the patch. Does anyone know where I can find it? I have called tech support but the haven"t gotten back to me yet.
  5. We are in the process of deciding between E2 and job boss and I am looking for input as to peoples likes and dislikes with either package good or bad. I am going to ask the respective resellers for referals , but I thought I would post on here as you guys would be the most unbiased. So what do you think. Thanks Noel
  6. Good day all We are getting a renishaw mp700 probe for our Matsuura VG1000 and I am looking for help in figuring out how to program it using mastercam. I have heard you do it using custom drill cycles. Are there any posts setup for this application that can be purchased or do I need to get a book on using custom drill cycles. I am on version 8 still. Thanks in advance Noel
  7. I though that x could extend previosly trimmed surfaces. Noel
  8. I tried what PIP said and it seemed to help. Noel
  9. Sorry for being so vauge. I am running 8.1.1. If I select a line it highlights segmented some of the line is white some stays the original color. Noel
  10. Much to my supprise my computer was replaced with a new 3.2 gig p4. The problem is that I wasn't given a heads up so it has an ATI Radeon X800 vidio card. I am experiancing ghosting issues . If I turn the hardware acceleration all the way down they seem to go away. Is there a driver that will work with this card or should I get them to change it for an nvidia card. My last card was an Nvidia fx 5700 and it seemed to work ok. Any help would be appreciated. Noel
  11. STILL ON V8 SUCKS TO BE ME Noel
  12. We use a dakota instruments model DX-1 works good Noel
  13. on our lathe with that control we have to hit edit/pip/read,programname.I dont know why we need the comma but it wont work without it. The first character of the program name has to be a letter as well. Noel
  14. The yellow tail Merlot is awsome as well. Noel
  15. No such luck Doug. It is actualy a good thing that this happened because now we can get it hooked up with an eithernet card and thats a good thing. Noel
  16. fifo is off. Thanks anyway Noel
  17. I have tried several configurations suggested by our matsuura reseller and none have worked. We have decided that if they are coming in to fix the problem anyway we might aswell have them install an eithernet board instead of the rs232 board like they should have done originaly. that way I wont have anymore data starve problems. Thanks for the suggestions. Noel
  18. We have been running our matsuura vg1000 with a yasnac j300m control for years with the same dnc set up .The other day the motherbaord on the pc we were feeding it with went south. Our IT guy brought out a new pc the problem now is that the new pc has a db9 port versus the db21 on the old one. a 21 to 9 adapter does not allow the comunications to work. Inside the control cabinet of the machine the cables are 9pin. There are 2 separate cables one for memory mode and one that goes to the high speed board for dnc. If I hook up the cable for memory transfer to com1 on the pc with a straight through db9 cable it works fine. if I try to hook up the other cable for dnc it will only send data for tape mode if I set the flow control to none or software so the buffering does not work. If I set the flow control to hardware which it needs to be the data will not send. I have tried a few different pin configurations to no avail. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Noel
  19. Mike this is for a deckel dialog 11 control and it is being used with the horizontal spindle with a tombstone on a rotary table. The post is only being used for this type of job . I have got the drill cycles working the only thing I have to do that is backwards is if I want my drill depth tO post as TI I have to enter the value for my drill depth as absolute but because I changed the format statement TI 1 depth from TA 1 depth. Noel
  20. I am almost there with my post mods. There is one problem that I cant figure out yet. I want the value for my drill depth to be in incremental(TI-1.5 as opposed to TA-1.5) but in order to do that I have to enter the value as absolute and change the format statement to (fmt TI 1 depth) . What in the post points it to either the absolute switch or the incremental switch.Hope that isn't too confusing. Noel
  21. I am trying to change the peck drilling cycle on an old post that I have and was wondering if I wanted to have the value from the clearance box entered in my cycle. Is there a tag or a lable that refers to the data enterd in that box as far as pointing the post to that box. Noel
  22. Sorry for the slow response. I am cutting from the top view. I tried a test peice using a simple wireframe revolved cut and it cut fine. I assumed it would not. Go figure. Thanks Noel
  23. I have uploaded a file to the mc8 folder on the ftp called undercuttest.mc8. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me a way to get mastercam version 8.1.1 to cut the undercut(3 axis only) on this fairly simple part. Thanks in advance: Noel
