lathe threading 304L stainless steel

I’m woking on a job with 1/2-20 Helicoil thread, the material is too hard the thread is not repeating, When I repeated the thread NO GO go in. the speed I’m using is 800rpm

Cut .0025 per each side (.005 dia.). any help will be appreciated

Just alot of tool pressure is all. You will have to set it so either it is right when done the first time or right with spring passes. I thread alot of 17-4ph ss and 300 series and that is always the norm. I will take .013 a pass and get good results on repeating as long as I repeat everything the same as the last part.
