Engraving

Hi,

 

I am trying to do some engraving using plastic sign material. I have a word file converted to a DXF file from Corel Draw. When I try to generate the tool path the "estamp" program locks up.

 

I was using Mastercam V9.1 level 3, I just got MasterCamX. I have tried X as well, it locks up there also.

 

Any ideas?

I have had this happen on NUMEROUS occasions, and don't have a good answer. I just keep adjusting paramters until I get a combo that works. There seems to be one parameter (or conflict of parameters) that engraving does'nt like and will freeze. My first area of attack it to turn roughing off, or change pocket type, adjust filter, adjust stepover. Another thing that has gotten it to work is change the tool definition/tip dia a thou or so. Also try running ram saver or even exiting out and re-entering mcam.

Hi Italian' stylin,

 

I have done what you have done in the past, changing parameters, it seems to be hit and miss.

 

I am glad that I am not the only one who this happens to!

 

What tool/cutter to you use for engraving?
